there's no point in having Primeau up here to play once every 2 weeks. they need him to develop into a goalie who can give them 30-35 starts/year very soon. and at least they're finding out that Lindgren is unequivocally not the answer as a second goalie. - DoubleDown
Primeau came because Price is sick, he will be back in Laval this week. The guys on RDS last night mentioned that Lindgren got the call out of respect for working his ass off in practice and the coach "owed" him one. |

Tatar will be signed for 5 years at 6M/yr, book it - Symba007
He would be 34 at the end of that contract, would that be the end of the world? |

he will be 35, he has one year left after this year and he is 29, a 5 year contract brings him to 35yrs old |

He isn't, but he should be starting with the big club on a regular basis, considering all the circumstances |

Those who think we shouldn't sign Tatar because of his age, Gallagher will be 29 by the end of his contract. Same people think we should trade him too? |

he is not going anywhere IMO, Danault, Gallagher and Tatar will all get new contracts. Same with Petry I would guess. |

i see your point. you want them to lose. but they cannot sit Price for Lindgren. im all for a tank orchestrated by the GM, stripping the team to the bones. i'm not OK with a coach actively making decisions to lose hockey games. that's a bridge too far. |

I dunno, instead of going through the trouble of finding another perfect fit such as Tatar, you keep him and try to address other problems, instead of creating new ones |

nice. so we can finally start the rebuild in 2026. Bergevin might be on a short leash by then though. |

You know how much I disagree with that but it's your opinion and you're entitled to it... but the team doesn't have a defense to contend anytime soon |

Well it wouldn't have to be an "orchestrated tank", it's just giving Primeau some NHL experience while the stakes aren't that high. And he'd surely win a few of his starts |

of course not. but they're also not rebuilding. they're going to try to cobble together a team to make the playoffs every year as long as MB is the GM. in that case, given that you can't draw UFAs and you don't have the assets to trade for good players (most of whom would have Montreal top of their NMC)... you might as well re-sign a productive player who wants to be here.
it's the least poopty option from a selection of poopty options. |

No, you're right about the defense, but if some the prospects pan out, and MB can manage a decent trade here and there, it could be improved quicker than you think. Not saying I'm blindly optimistic about this, just that it is in the realm of possibilities |

i thought you were referring to Lindgren, sorry.
i think it's tough because Laval actually is in a playoff race right now and that's great experience for him. |

Dude, it's not necessarily what we want, but you know they're going to keep Tatar, Petry, Danault and re-sign them. THey want to be competitive every year because this is Montreal. Fans think the team should suck in order to get better but all you hear is "3 years in a row, no playoffs. 4 out of 5, no playoffs"... It's so (frank)in annoying, people can't pick a side. |

well like anything it depends on the return. but i can't see the return being great. a mid 20s draft. you know how that ends with this team. and a b-level prospect who might turn out to be an adequate third liner.
also, no i don't think Bergevin would trade him now. only way he would deal him is if the team is out of the race next trade deadline. and if the team is out of the race by next February and he's still the GM, then to be honest, nothing really matters. |
