UFA that year, if you dont sign them prior to the expansion draft, I'm assuming you dont need to protect them?

So I guess they'll be giving Seattle the exact same leverage as Vegas had?

Well, they'll have to lose someone...can't protect them all.

Could give a pick to get them to take Alzner

Hearing his comments after he was sent down, and seeing him yesterday, it's once again pretty crazy how a little confidence coming from the coaching staff can change everything for a player.

Sure it's only two games, but KK finally gets to play hockey and be relied upon by his coach. It's great.

Almost as if it should have been done a long time ago...and almost as if it's clear MB and CJ are more concerned with saving their jobs than the benefit of the team long term

Well you could, but they could walk a few weeks after.

Last time, I was convinced the Habs were waiting to sign Radulov for that exact reason. Let the expansion draft pass and then sign him to a new contract. It sounded genius.

Turned out to be just Bergevin being a fool.

That's risky...guys don't often hit UFA and stay home. Makes getting a hometown discount really hard too

Markov that year too.... I think Danault and Gallagher will play ball though, Tatar & Petry not so much... maybe they should trade those 2? Has anyone thought of that yet?

The expansion draft will be before July 1st, finalize a contract, just dont send it in until after but still prior to them officially becoming UFA

I think it's pretty easy to shake on a contract and just wait to make it official.

If the player and the team didn't build that kind of trust after alll these years, they might as well leave.

Exactly Scab, and I trust Danault & Gallagher to have that loyalty towards the organization.... Tatar & Petry?

All 4 of them look like players who are enjoying their time and having good years in Montreal.

I can see all them being opened to the idea.

I know most see Tatar leaving at some point, personally, I think it's Petry who's not signing a new deal.

Unless Seattle is willing to take a pick, I think they just might... they need to hit the cap floor and Alzner will only have 1 year left

There's Armia that year also....

If they keep Tatar, one of Domi or Drouin needs to go, you agree?

It's really not hard to hit the cap floor. They can do it with NHL caliber hockey player they will get at the expansion draft.

Things change quickly.

But out of the three, I like Tatar and Drouin more than Domi. So I'd keep them.

But when I say things change quickly. You would have asked me a year ago and my answer would have been different....

So we'll see how things go.

Tatar is my favorite out of the 3... if its between Domi and Drouin, I'd keep Domi
