So worthy of being half an Andrew Shaw trade...if they throw in a young 40 goal guy for the other half

Shaves over $5mil right off the bat and you get rid of the cancer Price before it becomes terminal. You get a solid prospect in Broberg, and along with Suzuki, Poehling, Domi, Juulsen, Evans, KK, Montreal is set up to rebuild with a solid young core.

Let's not get bogged down in who is mentioned and who isn't mentioned. Fact of the matter is the clock is ticking on Price and Weber. Trade them now while they still hold value and focus on the rebuild that is certain to come with Montreal.

The trade them issue is a combo of not wanting to trade the vets/leaders/full on tank and what value do you get for aging guys with expensive contracts with term?

Weber's contract also isn't really that bad if you look beyond the top line details

He's 34. He has probably another 2-3 good seasons left in him. Then he's 37 with 3 more years of a $7.8 mil contract.

Its actually a sweetheart of a deal.... hopefully he repeats next year and they can get full value for him

Even Price, his contracts drops off significantly when he turns 35

The last 4 years of Weber's deal pay him $4m, $1m, $1m, $1m. He likely retires (crushing Nashville's cap) rather than play the last 3 years at least

If a player over 35 gets bought out, you owe the amount remaining, not the cap hit
