Agreed ... thus my last post above.

👍

Thomas Harley would be fantastic, have to believe Habs would have grabbed him 15th had Caufield been off the board

Yes, I left Fleury out of my top 4 because i hope to have a good team, thanks tips.... I'll have another scotch, you can have the kit kat

alright trade them all. get all the picks you can get. trade them all though! everyone over 26, no exceptions. because you know, in 5 years, they'll all be over 30 so too old.

then have Timmins draft the next Fucale Tinordi McCarron. how's that as the back bone of your future dynasty?

good luck my delusional friend

This year, I would go for a D with our first draft pick, it seems to be our most pressing need and it will be for the foreseable future IMO.
- Garfield512

You would think but unfortunately they'll have to reach for one and leave a very good F on the board, unless they get Drysdale in the top 5, maybe top 3

Trade them for prospects, 1, 2 or 3 years in their development.... at least try and keep up, all the picks I propose in deals for the 2 are throw ins

I don't pretend to have a crystal ball but I feel D is our greatest weakness right now. We picked a lot of them the last few years but we don't yet know if any of them will pan out.

I would go for a stud D this year at the draft ... make trades happen to better our drafting rank if need be. We could always trade for wingers in years ahead as D's are always in demand.

This is the pressing need right now. Aftrer this draft we will have 32 draft picks........how does that transition into making the team? The future? The present? The 50 contract limit.....which teams don't want to max out.....they want the flexibility.

This team needs to make a shift for the future and have some sort of direction.

Because right now MB wants his cake and to eat it too. Can't have it both ways. We're not built for a quick turn around (reset, rebuild, redo the same poop over and over - or whatever they're calling this disaster) We need some young bodies to step in like Suzuki did. Ones with actual talent that can make the change for this team.

This small, lunch pail team can't work this hard all-season and then expect to compete for the cup IF they make it in!! That's like Price about to play 70+ games this season then carry them to the cup. Every single thing this team does is counter-intuitive to success.

It's embarrassing. Talk about living for today with no thought about tomorrow.

Just scanned through some comments and I think you guys couldn’t be more wrong about the D prospects. We all know how good Romanov is. Mete and Fleury are still kids that will get better.

But I’m not sure anyone mentioned the kids at Northeastern - Jordan Harris and Jayden Struble.

Harris was a key part of the USA team this year and scoring at 0.72ppg as a 19 year old. He’s good but Jayden Struble could be a star. He just turned 18 in September and scoring at a 0.52ppg already! And the thing about Struble is that he’s nasty to play against and has a mean streak.

I’m not stupid, I don’t expect either to be Cale Makar. But in comparison Makar scored at a 0.62ppg pace as a 19 year old in the same league.

I heard Pierre McGuire on TSN 690 quite a few times now pumping up these two young players as among the Habs best prospects. Although Pierre is a moron at times, we all know how much he’s into college hockey.

Don’t forget Norlinder as well. The kid made the Swedish team with all high picks Sandin, Broberg, soderstrom, Lundkvist, bjornfoot. He’s having himself a season

You're forgetting the most important thing.....

The Habs will be "developing" these poor kids. May God have mercy on their souls.

The kids he mentioned are decent prospects but you don't build your entire future D core on the back of 2nd and 3rd round picks, some may surprise but to think you'll build an entire top 4 that will be successful that way is wishful thinking

I agree. They're throwing darts in the dark.

That Struble kid looks like a good one.

He does for sure but he's 18 and it's early, they need to add more like him through trade to speed up the process

They need to insulate Price with can't miss prospects that will be for sure NHL players. The position this team is in, coupled with Price and Weber's age.....they'll need to be great defensively to help Price, help the Habs, to be contenders sooner than later - ideally 3 years.

They need Primeau to back up Price for 2 years and then find somewhere else for Price to play

I saw some highlights of that Struble kid and was impressed by his play ... fast and strong. How this will translate to the NHL level is anyone's guess but I have high hopes for him.

Can't say I know anything about Harris though.

But as someone much smarter than me once said ... "You can never have enough defensemen". They usually can be traded to fill out other spots (ie: wingers) in the roster when the need arise.

Stud centermen are another issue however ... those can only be drafted.
