Oh god!! With MB it could be anything? Add to that it's for Montreal so you're paying more and would have to have decent term for the player (not the org).
I'd say:
4-5 years @ 6.5 for Petry
6 years @ 7 for Tatar
I'm just thinking like MB, as i know poop about any of this. - Snots33_77
Holy poop no to both! |

give them 3 years, that makes Tatar 32 and Petry 35 - fidopro
Funny guy.... if your best offer is 3 years they both walk, you think they'll accept "bridge deals" at this point??
Tatar gets 6 years and Petry 5... minimum |

and that's why I'd keep both Tatar and Petry, in 3 years they'll still be young enough to have an impact.
not Price and Weber. Price maybe since he's a goalie, but Primeau should be ready by that time |

I'm really torn ... I really like those 2 players but they could get us good returns (picks/prospects).
Everyone has a different idea of what is best for the team long term, I'm in the camp of those who say we should trade them while their value is high. We're not winning the Cup in the next few years anyway. |

Say 6.5 each...
Price 10.5 + Weber 7.86 + Petry 6.5 + Tatar 6.5 + Drouin 5.5 = 36.86
You gonna re-sign Gallagher? 6.5 at least? Danault? 5.5 to be generous to the Habs? And Domi? Around the same at 5.5? That's another 17.5 for a total of 54.36
You need an entire D group other than Weber and Petry, you need money for Suzuki, Kotkaniemi, Poehling, Caufield, Romanov and Mete.... Lehkonen and Armia?
You sign them both and you end up with the same team only older and more expensive and in cap trouble... and keep on spinning |

in the next few years no, but in 4-5 maybe
can't trade all your vets, see what's happening in EDM and TOR
I wouldn't be furious if they trade them. but I'd be very surprised.
a GM want's to build the best possible team unless he's in a total rebuild mode' which is not the case with MB. |

you're making sense, for once.
I did say I'd trade Weber and Price, problem solved.
highest salary would be Gallagher at 7.5, like BOS and STL |

MB has proven this for years now that he's incapable of doing this. Only thing he can do is make trades....even though they're hard.
MB can't build a complete team and i don't think he has even a clue on how to? |

He has proven time and again that he's clueless on how player development is done ... for years he had Lefebvre in charge of this even though the guy was totally ineffective.
I won't even talk about the drafting fiascos he's been involved with.
He FINALLY!!! decided to send the kids down for seasoning in the AHL after being pressured by everyone and their mother to do so. |

Number 1 on my list is for that man to get fired ASAP. I can't stand him. Can't listen to him talk because all he does is make excuses and everything is everyone else's fault. I can't even look at him while he just talks poop.
Someone else needs to come in and deal with the draft picks and shaping the team moving forward or else we're doomed for the next several years if we keep him for 1 more season. |

And your D going forward is Petry, Romanov, Fleury, Kulak and ?? Where are you getting defensemen to fill out a core that's half decent? Cause that top 4 is a sh!t show! If you're trading Weber to fit Petry in, you're selling your car for gas money! |

Price and Weber could bring back a prospect or 2. they could draft one in June. Domi could bring one too. team is not ready to win before 2-3 years anyway. |

Price will bring cap relief when the time comes, nothing more
You need D prospect now, Petry and Tatar gets you that
Only D in the top 10 will go top 5, another reason to trade Tatar is they'll most likely be forced to draft another winger
.... and yet another reason to trade both, dont have to protect them in the expansion draft
.... and another, both will command NTC, just handcuff yourself even more!
And finally, one more.... a team that's retooling shouldn't be giving players their last big pay out contract, this isn't a retirement's club, it's a youth movement |
