You don’t sign Petry, you trade him at TDL next year and get a great return because pne GM will absolutely overpay for a right offensive dman.
Now for Tatar, yeah entertain offers until the deadline and you might get a great deal, if so, do it. Looking at what Vegas paid, you are looking at a 1st and a good prospect and who knows. Personnally, i would trade Domi over Tatar but Domi is the kind of trade you make at the draft. - Habsody

Can't trade everybody either. Domi is younger and a RFA. Won't cost as much as expected. In a down year, it would be selling low.
If Petry has a down year next season, you will wish with all of your heart that you traded him before.
They should not wait more than this summer. |

You get a better return this year IMO - team gets 2 runs at the playoffs with Petry before RFA. |

I do agree with this but I think they have to trade both and for a few different reasons I think Tatar should go now and Petry at the draft |

They should....but I think they won't. Not this season or this summer anyway.
Maybe one of them go. Big maybe.
Fleury is in the AHL. I don't think they see him as a top 4 next season. Brooke is even further away and Juulsen is done. They will have to figure out that right side of the defense.
I think they have a few options in front. By the time this team is a contender (if it happens), Petry might be 36-37 and Tatar will be 34.
Timing and assets management is everything. |

I'm 90% sure it won't happen and very uneasy about the idea of re-signing both and be in a much worse position 3 years from now |

There's not much you and I can do about it, other than maybe not spending our $$$ to see them live.
I mean, I'm a dude who pretends to be a chicken (kind of) on a rumors site. It's not like they care about my take on the team. |

I partly agree, so it's a start lol I'd Trade Tatar to the highest bidder before this year's deadline and Petry at the draft - obie
We can’t afford to trade Petry this year, our best right handed dman after his Fleury who should keep grow his game next year on the 3rd pairing. And since Josh Brooks is an absolute disaster, you will look to grab one at the draft as well (RHD). |

I agree hence why i keep Petry since we have absolutely no depth on the right side nor in the farm (considering Fleury is in the lineup which will happen sooner or later).
I liked Tatar since his arrival, on and off the ice and seeing him fit so well and be a gamer night in, night out, that’s the kind of veterans i want to keep around to show the kids on a rebuild. I think that when Drouin is back, Domi is the odd man out and i don’t see him be the last year Domi on his new contract. So yeah, i trade him at the draft and get anorher first or move up +. |

So which team will show up today?
The one who played 60 flawless minutes yesterday or the one we've seen most nights this year. |

Need a big L today, not necessarily outclassed but a regulation loss nonetheless |

Yeah, that would be ideal ... I wonder if Poehling will be in the lineup today.
Gotta go stock up on beer and munchies for the game and the SuperBowl.
EDIT: My prediction: San Francisco by 3 points (better defense) but I hope LDT (and the Chiefs) win. |

Considering we can't sign UFAs and have no depth or prospects to replace him, I don't trade Petry unless re rejects a 2-year extension. Maybe 3 years if the AAV goes down. If not, gonzo by the draft.
Tatar is gone as soon as you get an offer of a 1st+ |

Oh god!! With MB it could be anything? Add to that it's for Montreal so you're paying more and would have to have decent term for the player (not the org).
I'd say:
4-5 years @ 6.5 for Petry
6 years @ 7 for Tatar
I'm just thinking like MB, as i know poop about any of this. |
