Just happens every year to us... we always have tons of games in hand and they have an absurd schedule to catch up right before the end of season. We always seem to have guys get hurt in this insane stretch too... right before the playoffs. Lost Hamonic one year, Lee, etc. It's just absurd that it happens every year. - niteislander
How many games is a ton? 4 teams have 52 games played. The Islanders have 49 games played. Nobody else has played more then 51. You're talking for the most part 2 games to make up on most of the league. That's not a ton of games
Injuries happen to every team. Saying Lee & Hamonic got hurt because they had to play a couple of more games then some of the teams at some point in the second half of the season is crazy. You come across like the league has this big conspiracy against the isles to make them play more games then everybody else in the second half |

your right I must be nuts.. b/c playing 7 games in 11 days is totally normal. The 3 games we just had against the Rangers we had 3 games in between those games. They had 1. we had 6 games in 8 nights. You don't think we could have used a practice in between those games to discuss what we were doing wrong? You don't think some rest might have helped when we blew a 3 goal lead in the 3rd period to Washington? ... It's a disadvantage to have an absurd schedule like that.. Their on many Isles fans talking about it including our 2 announcers and stats guys. You guys just want to say I am nuts.. whatever... It's absurd. |

You're acting like the Isles are the only team who plays that kind of schedule and everybody else has off 5 days in between games. Nobody says you're nuts, I just don't agree with your thinking. So how do all the other teams not have the same scheduling if they are all within a couple of games of each other? Just because the Rangers only had one game in that time doesn't mean they haven't played the same stretch of games at some point in the season as well. |

Yes it had the little blue checkmark and everything, just like Staple's most recent tweet:

Trotz added "Vukota will appraise your watch for free if you allow him to do so while you're using the urinal" |

#Isles Barry Trotz on All-Star Mathew Barzal winning the NHL's fastest skater competition: "Mathew took a lot of ribbing. He heard he’s second fastest on the team (after Nick Leddy) but he’s the fastest in the NHL. I think he was taking a good ribbing."
So no trading Leddy this offseason?

Amazing how after last season Ottawa may end up with two top 5 picks this season in a deep draft because that first from the Karrlson trade was pushed to 2020. Hertl now out for the remainder of the season. Dorion may end up looking like a hero. Unbelievable. |

Meanwhile the Sharks are about to get butt(frank)ed back to the stone age. Can't really blame Wilson for going for it all those years when they had high-end teams, but now they've got an old/expensive core signed for a long time, poop for prospects, and no lottery pick. |

100%. It’s more a case of Wilson absolutely doing the right thing and it just didn’t work out because of circumstance and extremely bad luck. Who would’ve expected Karlsson to regress as much as he did so quick? The injuries they have going on? You could certainly make an argument that he didn’t do anything about his inept goaltending after going all in and it would be legit but it’s tough to revamp an add to an entire team in two seasons. He tried to add high end players to a pretty decent line up. It didn’t work out... |

Wilson cannot be blamed for going for it and team ran into some tough breaks with Karlsson. I do think it's time for a GM change with the Sharks though. |

All of this makes me feel warm and fuzzy.
Thank you.
With the lack of picks and aging core, I wonder if Wilson would consider moving Meier for picks and youth. 🤔 |

Yeah you could certainly argue that Karlsson was a luxury they didn't necessarily need to dedicate $11.5M worth of cap space to when they very clearly have issues in goal. That Jones contract turned out to be a big-time albatross.
I don't even know how they can get themselves out of this mess. Karlsson (29) and Vlasic (32) have 6 and 7 years remaining on their deals respectively and take up almost $19M in cap space and full NMC's
Burns basically has a full NTC (he can make a list of three teams that he'll accept a trade to) and is 34.
Kane has the same NTC as Burns
Couture is probably their most important offensive player so he's not going anywhere.
Only really valuable assets they have that can be moved are Hertl, Meier, and Labanc. They'll probably have to move Labanc but they really can't afford to lose Hertl/Meier either. |

They’re absolutely crap (frank)ed for the next 3 years minimum. It’s glorious. |

I don't even think they can have a big sell-off like the Rangers. They literally have nobody they can sell, unless they really start blowing it up and trading younger core players, like Meier or Hertl. |
