I think it's more that they need some offense and that Bellows earned his call-up with his play than it is about Toonbuggle being in the doghouse. Expecting Loonsmuggle to be anything more than a 12th/13th forward is unrealistic.

I'm just happy Bellows is getting a shot. I agree on Moose.

Purely a guess, but I wonder if they're not going to let Bellows sit out tomorrow against an elite defensive team like DAL and let him go Thursday against a possibly-Doughty-less bottom-dweller LAK team

Well he was pretty bad out there Saturday

That said we know Bellows can score but hopefully he plays well away from the puck. Thats gonna be a huge factor in whether he stays or not. Hope he plays great and sticks around.

If he's up and Trotz thinks he's ready he will play. I don't think they are penciling easy teams or tough teams for him to play. It's the NHL, every team has talent and you have to play the same system no matter who you play imho.

According to Lehner, he was given an "ultimatum" from the Islanders, and they moved on without hearing his decision.

The thing lost in this whole scenario is the Islanders perspective. the previous year the Isles had a few offers out to goalies and were waiting for replies. The replies they finally got was news the goalies had signed somewhere else... They then hired Lehner off the scrap heap with all his baggage and issues hoping to catch lightnening ina bottle. .... It obviously worked out well for the Isles and Lehner.

Once you give a guy your best offer you are willing to give him given all the issues and things that come with him.... if he hangs up the phone and doesn't get back to you quickly.... you can't assume he is calling back. If anything once he did not call back immediately you have to assume he is getting a better offers.

Hopefully Bellows plays well. Makes sense to get an idea about Bellows before the deadline. I would have liked to see Aho get a game.
