I agree w you on needing scoring. But also think we’d have a few more wins with Lehner in net, which would make us a better team. He’s a great locker room guy too. And his story is terrific. I’m just bummed Lou didn’t bring him back.

All I know is I’d take Lehner all day long over Varlamov. Lou didn’t get it done. Just like a lot if things - at least that’s how it seems to me. And Lehner actually wanted to be here.

This I agree with an ultimately that’s what matters. If signing Varlamov had anything to with with Sorokin coming over than that is a complete, total, (frank)ing joke. We don’t have anything concrete on that and probably never will but I have a real hard time theorizing the Varlamov signing. It literally makes no sense the guy was a complete pile of crap for Colorado the last couple of seasons.
He was great for them the season before in the PO’s but was relegated to back up the following seasons. Not someone any GM would normally sign to a four year starter money contract imo. Just weird imo.

Well I think it’s safe to say we could’ve at least picked up four or five more wins with some competent goaltending. It’s been subpar for going on almost two months now. But yeah of course we need scoring that’s a given.

I agree. I can’t imagine any realistic scenario that I would not have resigned Lehner after his Vezina candidate season. Nonetheless, now we have to deal w the cards we’ve been dealt. How do we get to the postseason and past the second round? We need solid goaltending to get there IMO. And if Greiss falters, Varly is the alternate. Let’s hope the Lou got this right.

Based on last year’s performance and the teams success Lehner. However there is plenty of time for the Isles and Varlamov to get back on track and have even more success so I’ll wait to make the final call when the Islanders season ends.
Really the whole Lehner thing not signing was bizarre but it’s water under the bridge at this point, but I would love to hear the Islanders side of the story. Unfortunately I don’t think we ever will.

We’re a top 6 and 3rd line center, and Pelech - at a minimum - away. Either way, I’m hoping for the best. Lou has to realize the core won’t be here forever. Make a push now or get a mid round 1st?
