There has been some interwebz speculation that this is the new thing.

Burn the first year, so his numbers are weaker as an RFA.

Of course, he will still get multiple offer sheets, because Leafs...

- Atomic Wedgie

We burned a year on nylander and marner.

How'd the interwebz like how that turned out

I find that all defenseman have hit their ceiling by 23.

Wait. That never (frank)ing happens, ever.

- joel878

Should never give up on a Dman under the age of 25. Plus Dermott has been decent, not great but decent. Most Dmen stew in the AHL till there 23 before even getting a taste. Dermott is already there. Just saying..

ffs

please read what I said. I said he is a young D who hasn't improved much at all the past few years. I said he still has upside but is a 3rd pairing d who is about to get paid a big boy contract. Instead of the Leafs paying him 2.5 million to play on the 3rd pairing include him in a package to upgrade the D.

Why does he have value? A team with cap space like a rebuilding team who want young players with potential would want him.

- Santo_44

I read what you said, it just didn't make any sense.

If he's going to negotiate his way out of town, but is at best a third pairing guy, who in your oh so enlightened opinion, is unlikely to improve much... Why would anyone pay much for him?

And what potential does he have for a rebuilding team, yet you don't think he will improve? If your opinion is right, and others in the league think the same, why would anyone pay for his poopty potential?

This isn't just aimed at you either. Multiple people are going on about how he's a third pairing guy and they don't see improvement over his time and that he might not get any better. Yet they want to trade him and expect good assets. It's dumb.
If he's unlikely to improve past a third pairing guy, why is anyone going to pay for his potential? What upside do you guys see if you think he's already hit his ceiling at 23?
And why is he going to command some big contract if he's showed so little so far and is only a third pairing guy?

He is 23. There is no more room for improvement.
He is useless to the Leafs, but is a valuable trade chip.

He’s not a top-4 D right now. Leafs need one right now. Dermott is replaceable as the 3LD because of Sandin. If Muzzin re-signs, and he should, as no one else does what he can, where does Dermott go? 3RD? Then what about Liljegren?

Dermott+ for Manson. That will allow the forward group to stay intact while improving the D. Then trade one of the forwards (Johnsson/Kapanen/Kerfoot) in the off-season.

- Steven_Seagull

See this shows some sense.
It's not that you think he has no room to improve, simply that other options are better or will soon be better.

If Robertson doesn't make the Leafs next season which I doubt he will.

Wouldn't it be best for his development to join a college or university team instead of another year in the OHL.

Or is he under contract with the Pete's still I don't know how any of that works lol.

- LeafGuy89

Pretty sure that once you play in the CHL you're not allowed to play Uni hockey.

Think that's why some guys play in BCHL and such.

Could be wrong but I think that's correct.

It does make some sense. I am not convinced that Manson is better than Dermott. I feel like it is too early to give up on him unless you are getting someone with a higher ceiling and I don't know if this is that.

Not to mention how ridiculous it looks that this debate is occurring over the first 10 games of a players career?

Like driving down the road looking at cows to pick a steak.

- joel878

Sandin looks good.

Playoffs are a different beast.

If we make the playoffs, I'd like him as our #7 over that ass flavored martin marinade

Looks like he is here to stay. Reminds me of Kaberle; not bad at all

Unlike Kaberle though, I'm pretty sure he shot the puck last night lol.

Should've used that gif. It's bigger than the one I posted. I tried to find a better McMahon one, but failed.

He looked reinvigorated his last fight. Those shoulder knocks were deadly on one of the biggest gamers in the business.

I am about 3.5 years from retirement. I promised a friend of mine on my last day I was going to do a MacGregor walk through the office

It would be good to see him re-focused. I don't think anyone beats Khabib in his weight class. Macgregor is always dangerous though and it makes him exciting to watch

Ahh true, I can see that. Thanks for the clarification!

Guess it prevents CHL from wasting draft picks.

Next time I get pissed off that the contracts for our guys weren't great (Still don't love them), I will remember the Skinner contract... or the Price contract!

And no other GM sees what all the fans see. Not a one. Chiarelli and Shero are no longer GMs.

I worked with my buddy at Real Sports Bar and Grill and when he quit, he rage quit, because the Chefs were douche bags. Was called into the office and was told poop he didn't need to hear, so he flipped on the head chef, walked out flipping every single person off, and saying "(frank) this, (frank) all y'all, I'm out".

Pretty much this-

I think McGregor fought Khabib at the worst possible time (for him).

He had to gain weight for the stupid boxing match, was caught up in the circus of it all, and was acting like an idiot before the fight with Khabib. Tossing chairs at Khabib's bus.

I think if he can get back to where he was, he'd beat Khabib.
