So you think he has good value, but isn't that good? The salary concern I get, but if you guys think he is a third pairing guy at best, why is anyone going to trade good assets for him? What do you realistically think we'd get for him? - Thecakeisalie
Fans think other GMs only remember his play from last year and feel like can sweet talk a GM into a reclamation project. |

ffs
please read what I said. I said he is a young D who hasn't improved much at all the past few years. I said he still has upside but is a 3rd pairing d who is about to get paid a big boy contract. Instead of the Leafs paying him 2.5 million to play on the 3rd pairing include him in a package to upgrade the D.
Why does he have value? A team with cap space like a rebuilding team who want young players with potential would want him. |

If Robertson doesn't make the Leafs next season which I doubt he will.
Wouldn't it be best for his development to join a college or university team instead of another year in the OHL.
Or is he under contract with the Pete's still I don't know how any of that works lol. - LeafGuy89
He probably has to play in the OHL another year. He'll play for USA at the WJC again as well. Peterborough finally has a good team. If they falter, they trade him to a top team hopefully and he goes to compete for the mem cup. |

Hopefully Ottawa beats Buffalo. I know they aren't really to much of a threat when it comes to playoffs, but it would be nice not having to worry about another team in the standings. |

He’s not a top-4 D right now. Leafs need one right now. Dermott is replaceable as the 3LD because of Sandin. If Muzzin re-signs, and he should, as no one else does what he can, where does Dermott go? 3RD? Then what about Liljegren?
Dermott+ for Manson. That will allow the forward group to stay intact while improving the D. Then trade one of the forwards (Johnsson/Kapanen/Kerfoot) in the off-season. |

Any team who is trading a top 4 D is starting with Kapanen.
Dermott would be the add on that actually has value...not this 2021 2nd round pick nonsense |

I can’t see trading him JMO, and I’m hoping we can sign him cheap. He’s not even played 2 seasons worth of games, he’s worth keeping I think..unless a trade knocks your socks right off your claws. |

With Mikheyev out, I want a forward back if Kapanen is traded. I think someone mentioned Manson + Richie. I’m in. Do it for Cherry. |

Absolutely agree with you on every point.
With the emergence of Sandin (yes, yes - it's only been 10 games) and the potential resigning of Muzzin it pushes Dermott into a questionable position with the Leafs moving forward on the left side.
Dermott has potential but does not fit on a contending team that is looking to win now. He still has upside but won't be able to fulfill that promise playing a diminished role on a contender (like the Leafs).
Wouldn't be surprised if Dermott is part of a package at the TDL for a defensive upgrade (Manson? Dillon?).
I like Dermott enough but I wouldn't be sad to see him go if it means we're bolstering our d with some much needed size and grit and....
... truculence. |

I was thinking like $800k so he gets paid more then Marincin.
Can we get 12 years with the exceptional status? |

No. He has to live with that. Maybe it motivates him. Or maybe it crushes his soul into nothingness. |

I think the hype of Ritchie is over...I think his value around the league is a 3rd line winger so he shouldn't be too hard to add in the deal.
But yeah, no one ever talks about Dermott as a trade chip but I think he absolutely is. When a team trades away a D with term don't they not want to get a decent potential replacement?

Am I the only one that doesn't mind his game and sees more of a slump for a younger D man??
I think it's a little too early. Would like to see one more season of growth first. - underhill14

Could it be that people expected progression and have since failed to see much, if any, and are thus disappointed?
nah, flavour of month. The mediator has spoken. - Steven_Seagull
Touched a nerve lol
A whole .135 ppg down from his first year during an injury year.
OMG!
Leaf fans expecting too much from a player.

The problem is his lack of improvement and poor showings when being trusted with anything above sheltered mins.
He’s young, there is still time but I think it’s safe to think less from him than we did a few years ago. - Santo_44
Or maybe as per usual, people thought too highly of him.
Hes played 135 nhl games. Most nhlers dont have a progress scale that shoot upwards every year.
They have ups and downs.
