I've been reading about Jane Jacobs' work and how New York was being developed by Robert Moses in the 60's. Fantastic stuff if you are into the history of city development and change activism.

Nah, born and raised vancouver. Been in New York just over 5 years now.

Ya, this city has gone through so much development over time. Even just talking to people, how their neighborhoods have changed. Had a sculpture professor who was going to be evicted from his building in Tribeca in the 80s. Crime ridden, druggy, dangerous part of Manhattan at that point. His sister and her real estate husband bought it as a joke so he didn’t have to leave. Tribeca is now where Beyoncé and the other A list celebrities live. He’s a grumpy old fuk.

Also love looking at the maps, and just how the topography of the city and rivers has been built out over time.
