Pageau scores #20.

There are quite a few potential trade partners who could probably use Galch on the PP, some of which are still in the playoff hunt (NSH, SJ, BUF, CAL, COL, DAL).

Crazy how good Guentzel is, he scored 20 about a Month ago haha

Just realized that after playing 84 regular season games last year Pettersson is the only defenseman to appear in every game this season. I guess they needed to lock in someone with the ability to stay healthy.

In the upset column, if you told me before the season only 5 Pens would have made it this far playing every game, I wouldn't have had ZAR on that list with his fringe status and injury history.

One more for the twittwr follows is g-off who has some good stats finds like this one:

Per Moneypuck, among defensive pairs with at least 200 minutes together, Pettersson-Marino has the 5th best expected goals against. Not bad for a pair with room to grow that looks to be paired together for years.

That's good news, let's get Dumo back and our top 4 is solid as hell.

This what I think. Hertl is apparently on the block. They need a goalie bad, and trying hard to get a 1st in the upcoming draft. Hertl signed for a couple more years. (frank) Simon

That Jones contract is horrendous. 4 more years at $5.75M per. I fear the same might occur with Murray. Remember that Jones had about 4-5 really good, sometimes great/elite, seasons and then fell off a cliff. Goalies can be like that. I'm guessing they want more of a sure bet if they are trading Hertl.

I doubt they trade Hertl, though. Unlike Anaheim, they are not far from getting back into the mix. As discussed earlier, they have the hardest pieces, 1C and 1D (and a bunch more high quality players).

Correction: 3 really good, sometimes great/elite seasons, and 2 good seasons as a backup. Point being, about the same as Murray.

Lmao Jones has only been a starter for 4 seasons. (frank) you’re clueless.

I wonder if Duclair is a possibility. He already has 21 goals and he had a 20-24-44 season 4 years ago with Arizona. I can't figure out what the stink on him is, getting bounced around so much. He's still a RFA at the end of the season. He has decent to good underlying numbers. Can play either wing. Still just 24 years old.

If he is available, I'd go for him offering a 1st and Murray + something else.

Did anyone read the trade proposal article Custance put up on the Athletic today? It was great. A bjugs, DeSmith, and 1st for Zucker was proposed and the executive said that Minnesota would turn that down becuase "they don't need to eat cap just to get a 1st for Zucker."

Smart move by Minnesota... seems like a ton to give up for a guy who exceeded 30 goals ONCE, and has more so hung around 20 goals. Not sure really what all the hub-bub is about this guy, but maybe Minne did GMJR a favor by saying NO.

He's a very strong 2-way 5 on 5 performer with great wheels and scoring touch. What else do you need to know?

Nothing else... just don't think he's worth that 1st, and I think we're going to need DeSmith.

He's an established top 6 winger in the NHL, signed for 3 more seasons after this one at a good cap hit and is 28 years old.

He is totally worth a 1st. You realize the success rate on late 1st round picks, right?

You (and others) make a good argument for him... and I still think we're gonna need DeSmith. It is sounding like only a matter of time before JR trades that pick... IMHO I'd go for Kreider... I like his speed and size combination, something I think the Pens could use down the stretch.

I dont think DeSmith is that special that another goalie of his caliber, or better, couldnt be picked up to replace him...or even replaced within the system.

Its much easier and cheaper to acquire a piece like a back up goalie then say a top 6 winger.

They have similar 5v5 production over the last three seasons. Identical in assists and Zucker has the edge in goals by 3. Zucker is a puck hawk and strong on the back check. He's very disruptive and a pain to play against. Kreider is the power forward. IMO I'd rather use the assets on the player with term than the pure rental.

So, with that being said, Do you feel confident the Pens see Jarry as a backup? Or are they going to explore trading one of the 2 in the off season? No way they keep both right?

Indeed. The last sentence of my last post should of been "Its much easier and cheaper to acquire a piece like a back up goalie then say a top 6 winger, especially with term"

Yah, this is a really positive boost for him. He won't make the team for another 2 years but he is going to be legit.

I think there's a way they keep both for a few years. They're both RFA. Id like to see them both with a combined 8ish cap hit...something like 5ish for Murray and 3ish for Jarry.
