Sandin looking real steady for a 19yo
he makes those plays that give him just an extra bit of time and space.
He might be a keeper - senstroll
Conventional logic would have him traded before there's even the sniff of a possibility of an offer sheet |

Hes on pace for 55pts.
Similar to what he had as a leaf a few years back when leafs fan thought he tore up the league and was amazing. - Fakepartofme
Good 2nd line numbers. Hardly “tearing it up.” |

I was sure that Nylander had left the zone waaaaaaay too early on his goal, but upon further review, it was just a helluva smart play by him. - Atomic Wedgie
I think that might be the play you're looking for. When the D are caught wide and flat footed, and you recognize that and just get a serious jump on them up where a passing lane is clear. If they pick it off, you're an all-day-a-hole. But if you find that lane and that range, it's a smart read.
It's a fine line! |

He's getting 2nd centre minutes - something he wouldn't sniff here in Toronto.
Adjusting for that, the difference between him and Kerfoot is negligible.
Except Kerfoot doesn't take selfish penalties that knock his team out of the first round.

Marlies conditioning stint.
QED - Atomic Wedgie
I don't know if an AHL conditioning stint is the same. Like Monkeypunk said though, if you can get a defender like Lindholm, then you could allow him to get into game shape, have him pick up the slack, and then reap the rewards after a few games. It's definitely a move that is not without risk though. |

Too early.
But ive really liked what ive seen so far.
But as with all D.
Next year will be the true test. |

agree, Barrie unlikely to be traded, Johnsson, prospects more likely. Leafs more likely to add d-men without moving one. - winsix
Barrie won't be traded for a replacement, but in the event there is a kapanen/prospect, picks for RHD type trade I can see him traded for picks.
Because he's a (frank)ing soup can that's why. Addition by subtraction. Sandin literally looks to be of more benefit than Barrie, Right hand moderately less confused looking Gardiner. |

Only because fans weren't yelling at him to shoot.
That really spooked Kaberle.

no he isn’t... - Steven_Seagull
Tearing it up = doing pretty much exactly how he always does, and you would have expected he does.
Since the Leafs traded him, he is now tearing it up. those are the rules. |

Kaberle comparable? - Aetherial
Jokes aside.
First 10 NHL games, Sandin @ 19:
1G, 5A, +3; 12 SOG
First 10 NHL games, Kaberle @ 20:
2G, 1A, -1; 10 SOG
Crazy things I didn't realize: Kaberle played 29 minutes in his first NHL game.
He played basically 24 minutes in his 3rd, 4th and 5th games.
Sandin has yet to play more than 16:13 in an NHL game.

Rielly, I think, is probably back maybe a week before the playoffs. If the Leafs decide to acquire some D-Help in the 5m range, they can keep him on LTIR until the season ends, and then go into the playoffs with the extra player since the cap doesn't count in the playoffs.
I thought Dermott just looked bad yesterday. Barrie is always . . . like trusting a Roomba to clean up - you'll be happy with parts of it, and maybe glad sort of, but really it's not doing a thorough job, and if you're honest with yourself, a real vaccuum would probably do the job better.
Dermott, I thought, overplayed a few plays yesterday, made that poor stretch pass decision that led to the icing, and then failed to cover his guy on the defensive zone face/off. I would have liked it if Andersen could have held that puck in his glove, but that goal doesn't happen if Dermott has his guy. - Monkeypunk

Bobby Mac was saying that in terms of prospects Sandin and Robertson are untouchable.
With Marner/Matthews/Tavares/Nylander also being untouchable, the only real trade option is Johnsson.
The question is, will it be enough to get a decent defensive D-man and a backup goalie? |

Or Kapanen.
Did we give Kerfoot a NTC?
