Dubas needs to wake up and make a few trades to get this team in a better position.
NYR: Kreider (for Matthews' LW) and Georgiev.
Johnsson + something would be the starting point.
Then get a RHD: Ceci + Nylander for a young RHD.
No idea about who could fit the bill, but getting rid of Ceci is a positive in any situation, and Nylander now has good trade value - in playoffs he'll do nothing of importance, so best to trade him now vs off-season. - MaximusAurelius

Leafs have allowed more goals than the Sens. In the East, only Detroit and New Jersey have allowed more goals than the Leafs.
When people make trade proposals, I am surprised that we do not see more emphasis on the need for stay at home steady Dmen influences.
I think, for example, Ron Hainsey would be a significant stabilizing influence on the Leafs' shaky defensive game.

He's not the tier of player you trade anyways, not unless you're rebuilding and even then his age/contract is not something you want to move. Pretty sure the word is that he's untouchable along with 34/91/16. |

Ronald (frank)ing Hainsey would in no way shape or form fix Freddie's sub-900 save percentage. |

Well the Leafs are outside a playoff slot. They are giving up goals consistent with the worst teams in the league.
When Hainsey was playing they made the playoffs and they were better overall in defending.
Leafs need some gravitas on back end. Problem is not D or goaltending, It is the forwards failing to defend.
Tavares is -7. No serious contender can aspire to championship play when their captain serves up the example of a -7 on their plus/minus rating. |
