Think they'll buy him out at the end if the year. - BashCH
Meh, depends if MB thinks he can use the money.
Might wait til summer of 2021. |

I think the trigger will be the number of contracts. they can have 50 players under contract, if they need a spot to sign a kid, they'll buy Alzner out.

They don't need the cap space, might as well wait.... buying him out this offseason means he'll be on the books for 4 more years - obie
That much? Then wait.
They are not a contender. No point spending just for the sake of spending. |

I'm sure MB can find a F.A no one really wants and overpay them this summer. |

Maybe give Seattle a pick to take him for his last year, they'll need to get to the floor |

you would have to give them a pretty good pick.
Pass.
Not sure what will be available to them, but they should have better options than Alzner and a 5th round pick. |

Depends on what player you stand to lose though! I'd do Alzner and a 2nd if it meant not losing Lehkonen or someone like that.... you have to keep that in mind, you're not only compensating them to take Alzner, you're coughing up a pick to keep a better player |

Habs don't have 8 forwards good enough to be protected anyway. they won't lose anyone of value.
still plently of time till then though. |

Right? And that's what you pay for really, don't even need to worry about a protected list at that point... and the Habs have had a lot of picks lately |

And what are the odds a pick becomes as good as Lehkonen? Past the 3rd, they are low. In the 2nd, they aren't great. In the first, possible unless you are Trevor Timmins.

Its 7 F
Domi, Drouin, Gallagher, Danault, Kotkaniemi, Lehkonen...
Armia? Tatar? Byron?
Who knows, it was a suggestion on what could potentially be an ideal situation to shed Alzner and keep a better player but lose a pick |

They've done well with their picks and in acquiring extra picks over the last 24 months, if it comes down to it, it's a luxury they could afford |

I'd give Bergevin, Timmins and a 2nd round pick to Seattle.
EDIT: Forgot to add Alzner and our Zamboni driver as well. |

Our Zamboni driver is generational, that kind of Zamboni driver doesn't grow on trees, trades are almost impossible. |

With the summer he had, I think he knows. He puts a face in public when he talks about the playoffs but what did he do for the Habs to make them? What he says for the fans on TV is one thing. What's been said between Molson and him 2 years ago with the reset is another.
Molson and him know this is not a contender and not even a playoffs team. But they have tickets to sell and butts to put in seats. That team is years away if everything goes right.
It's all about the future.....and selling tickets. |

He's the last UFA of importance to sign with the Habs. Or was he traded |
