Bang! On!

Do you trust Botterill to get that $35 million in cap space right? Repeating this corner's long-held view: The GM should either be on a very hot seat or be assisted by a veteran hockey mind serving in the team president role.

I have my doubts he can put together the entirety of the roster to be a SC contender over the next 2 years. ..and 2 years is PLENTY long enough after having been on a 3 year vacation as far as making suitable trades to position the team well over the past 3 seasons.

-Has he made trades for good players?...absolutely yes, with Skinner, Montour, Miller and Joker added.
-Has he made trades for average to below average players?...absolutely yes, with Sheary/Hunwick, Vesey, Bealiue, Scandella/Pommer, ROR trade, I'd put Frolik in there for now
-Has he signed good players in FA?...I'll give him a bit of a pass here as he has been restricted with the Cap to some degree, but Johansson, Lazar, Gilmour, Girgs, Larson, Ullmark others are average/decent...I'm not seeing any above average signings to rave about
-Has he signed below average players in FA?...yes, Hutton, Erod, McCabe to some extent is a mild-overpayment, Skinner isn't a bad player...but significantly overpaid by $1.0

I'm sure I missed in each category, yet the point is he has been a complete mixed bag that leads to enough question marks on if he is the right guy.

Here's the thing IMO, this offseason is very important for the next three (3) to five (5) years, as many trades, draft picks and FA signings (UFA and RFA) will be for that contract period...some shorter, some longer. The Sabers simply cannot afford to get this wrong over the next two (2) offseasons/seasons.
If Teri and Kym have half a freaking' clue, they need to bring in a very experienced VP of Hockey Ops. Who? Be bold, go get Jimmy Rutherford...give him Titles up the ass and enough money to float his own yacht as a skippy to his own ocean liner.

What the Pegula's need to do is Hire a President of Hockey Ops, then a VP of Hockey Ops, then a GM. They need layers. Experienced Hockey people at the top.

The Pegulas and a GM just doesn't seem to be working. They should give the President the final say on hockey matters.

They just need to step out of the way, who really knows how they are doing behind the scenes, but one could say to much. If they didn't learn there lesson with TM then they never will.

Maybe we do have a chance at a top 10 pick.

I’m very happy to be here.

Let’s not get too crazy. I’d be happy with a president... hell. I’d be happy with Ralph as president and gallant behind the bench.

And if you want to bring in Lindy as a special consultant on hockey matters, I would not complain.

The team clearly needs more hockey people doing hockey things. The rookie gm and coach of the moment just ain’t getting it done...

Exactly.

They do need to do something different. A President who has hockey experience would be excellent, maybe a special consultant to him, and then an Experienced GM the President hires would be awesome as well.

Yeah ,no

The coach is the one

- gerbe75pts

Yes I know All I am trying to say is that Jack has the pull in the organization to get what he wants if he wants it. Thought you millennials loved a good conspiracy theory or is my point really stupider than a holographic moon. According to a lot of people on here Jack did get two coaches fired and ROR traded. I don't believe this but I do believe it would only take one call to Kimmy to get 53 on his wing.

We can all say what we want, but with a solid 2C, another good RW and a goalie this team should be able to compete. We can blame the coach and GM, but the players have to be willing to work for it too. It's not like we haven't seen this team play good Hockey this year, maybe the coach isn't strict enough, but the players need to show some Heart to

2 centers and 2 RWs

We'll also see if larry and girgs are interested in coming back to this poop show. Might be 2 more spots there. Would be nice if JB were interested in moving Okposo

So let's call it an even 7 forward holes to fill.

Then we'll be "legit contenders"

It’s beyond frustrating ....... the Sabres sucking has drained pretty much any love of hockey out of me. It’s even hard to watch other nhl games, ahl games, or any hockey.

It seems to be working on the football side without a President/Vice President/"Experienced Old Fart that's been doing Footbaw since you were in diapers".

The Sabres problem isn't that they don't have someone above Jason Botterill between him and the Pegulas. The problem is that Jason Botterill doesn't seem to be a good enough GM to put together a contender.

I trust the football side I do not trust the hockey side on draft day.
