Montour is a good #4 IMO. Good transition player. Just not someone who should get 5+ mil per year yet.

He also hasn’t played that much for a 25 year old. So there’s optimism he can improve at least a little bit. Especially with having multiple coaches/ partners recently

Tonight no different. Again it’s an all star I get it. But show off your skills to the national audience and try a little bit
- Sabretooth9

Yes this because it could convince some good players on the fence about buffalo to actually come to Buffalo. Bust you ass out there

Proper ones, with lemon juice, and simple syrup, yes, absolutely. Not the dogpoop you'd find in a bar with moron bartenders that couldn't find their ass with both hands who use weak ass sour mix(most bars don't spring for the good stuff), and don't use enough on top of it. Most make them in too small of a glass/too much ice so that there's barely any more than a hint of juice/mix, or Coke in it. But a lot of bartenders have a tough time counting to five, so I can't really blame them.

Severson was signed 3 years earlier and has been -13, -8, -31, -8, -27 and -15 each of his NHL seasons. Not placing a lot on +/-, but can be looked at in negotiations.
Andersson's just signed his extension after a career year of 2g 17a 19pts last season. His scoring is on a better pace this season at 3g 10a after 50 games, but his -15 on an arguably better team than Buffalo doesn't look great.
Both of these guys were coming off their ELCs, where Montour is coming off his second contract. They both rec'd significant raises, 4-5x more than what they were making. A 50% raise would put Montour at just over $5m. After giving up a 1st and a prospect, I don't think it's a reach to ask for at least that much. On pace for 28 points and currently 3rd best +/- on the team.
Not saying that Montour is better than either player you mentioned, just looking into a few things that may arise when negotiations begin.
Risto is getting $5.4m. Is he as good or better than him, if yes he should expect to get more than him. If no, than why do so many people want to trade the better player?

- adambuffalo

Thanks for the good points made !
It would be nice for Buffalo if they could swing under 5 but I didnt realize Montour was on his second contract.

Teri and Kym Peugllia are having a good time with the Bufaflo Billz and Harber Centre and 761, they are not focused on their Buflo Sabers.

The whole Allstar weekend is just a lost cause. It will be gone in 10 years. Give out the mid-season nominations, forget the games and skills competition.

My 2C targets for the offseason.

Stop Gap candidates:
Player Team Age Expiry Yr Cap AVV PPG IPP
Carl Soderberg. ARI. 34. 2020. $4.8m. 0.57. 66.1%.

Long-term/Core Players:
Player Team Age Expiry Yr Cap AVV PPG IPP
Andreas Athanasiou. DET. 24. 2020. $3.0m. 0.65. 73.7%.
Ryan Strome. NYR. 25. 2020. $3.2m. 0.60. 61.60%.
Chris Tierney. OTT. 24. 2020. $2.98m. 0.57. 65.2%.

IPP is interesting, Individual Point Percentage, the percentage of goals for that player's team while that player is on the ice that the player earned a point on.
comes from NaturalStatTrick.

PPG is from combined 2018-2019 & 2019-2020 YTD seasons.

I'd prefer to go younger/core player route myself, but a couple old guys could fill the gap for a season or 2. Getzlaf would be great, Sabres could fit him in for 1 more year until his contract expires, but then they would be in the same place a year from now...unless Cozens steps up big time.

Both Strome's continue to rank highly for me. Domi doing very well in both production categories. Athanasiou shows well in this light, he is leading or was leading in the Green Jacket ... but the whole of Detroit's roster are "minus" players.

Scheduling for the Sabres this season has been rather bazar with two lengthy breaks.
Is is any wonder Erod, Bogo and others are having difficulty.
