https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2140821-ranking-the-buffalo-sabres-top-10-prospects
"When we ranked the prospect systems of the NHL's 30 teams after the trade deadline, Buffalo finished first overall, with a ridiculous array of both top-end talent and depth. Getting No. 2 overall pick Sam Reinhart at the 2014 draft just made that group better." - adambuffalo
Top Talent: Rasmus Ristolainen wasn't ready for the NHL in his first post-draft season, but he's adapted quite nicely to the AHL, and that in itself is a remarkable development for a 19-year-old defenceman. Behind him on the defensive chart is Nikita Zadorov, a 6'5", 221-pound defenceman scoring at nearly a point-per-game pace in the OHL.
Even with the graduation of Zemgus Girgensons, the Sabres also boast two exceptional (if problematic) forward prospects: Mikhail Grigorenko and Joel Armia.
Depth: If it wasn't enough that the Sabres had top talent, the team also has depth players in spades. Newly acquired players like Nicolas Deslauriers, William Carrier and Hudson Fasching joining a group that already included J.T. Compher, Connor Hurley and Jake McCabe. A number of these players would be the top prospect in some of the NHL's weaker systems.
Even in net, Buffalo has three legitimate NHL prospects
Fair enough, I didnt think they were ranked that high. But look at the names:
- of the names they mentioned - 3 are with the Sabres, Botts bartered Carrier.
The players of value that they lost were McNabb, Compher, Zadorov and Armia.
The McNabb trade was obviously just (frank)ing dumb. Just incredibly dumb. Compher and Zadorov are useful. Armia, sure.
The best players we lost were part of the deal to get ROR. That's a whole other discussion but it's fair value |

Cal Pettersen would be nice to have right now.. but that had nothing to do with GMTM.. or maybe it did i have no clue why he refused to sign here - SabresFaninIndiana
Idk why he didnt sign, but he hasn't been in the NHL since last year. I really dont know why he walked |

TM was handed the 2nd ranked prospect pool at the time, so that doesn't work - Buff36
No he wasn’t. After he drafted Reinhart abs Eichel it became the 2nd.
He took over one that had zadorov, armia, Pysyk, girgs and grigorenko, McCabe and compher as prospects. Was a solid group but was not #2 |

Your missing the point as usual:
All day everyday you post the same thing.
I disagree with you.
It's the fact that you post the SAME THING over and over that is my issue.
Whether I agree or disagree with you, YOU repeat the same thing (whining) ALLDAY.
OVER and over

OVER AND OVER - Boss34

The 2011 Sabres had 51 points after 49 games, a -7 goal differential, & made the playoffs with 96 points.
This year's Sabres have 51 points after 49 games, a -7 goal differential, & the current Eastern Conference playoff pace.... is 96 points. #Sabres50

Like I said, if you find it too upsetting to read a differing opinion from yours, that's a you problem, not a me problem.
I read plenty of support for jason Botterill. I dont call people names for supporting him, but I try to articulate my point of view as to the facts at hand. If you can't handle reading a differing opinion, that's on you. I am always open to revising my opinion - jcragcrumple
I honestly barely log on anymore because this is such a pointless conversation
He isn’t getting fired. The Sabres aren’t bad, are literally 2 pieces away from contention, The Pegula’s like him and aren’t really focused on the Sabres so they aren’t going to be enthralled into doing yet another GM/coaching search.
So you can continue to torture everyone talking about something that’s going to be a constant for at least another 15 months. It makes it really easy to breeze through the pages and not comment

I felt like we were having a very reasonable discussion- Buff, Taco and Pegula among others were making reasonable points and we were having a good natured debate
Then you and Boss came in screaming LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE - jcragcrumple
We get it
None of us wanna miss the playoffs
But b!tching about the same stuff every day doesn’t change anything
And i didn’t do all the backreading,
But it sure seemed like the same old to me |

As opposed to the useful conversations here
Trust me, I'd rather be talking about how the sabres are good because the GM got us a 2C. That's not the state of the Sabres, unfortunately |

Now if Cozens becomes that 2C does Botts get the credit for staying the course and bottoming our for him ?
Too early to say but I like to have faith in things actually working out for this organization at some point. |

Hate that we are where we are right now, but if the Pegula's and TM would have left the system alone and let the rebuild continue and used the picks he had this team would be 100% better off. |

True we could have had a team of Vaclav Karabaceck.. the problem with that is TM blew donkey Richards three at a time at drafting |

they also had more spread out offense and didn't rely on one line to score all their goals |

When you draft 4 C's with top 8 picks in 6 years, you really shouldn't have to talk about overpaying to add a 2C. |
