If Detroit was dumb enough to trade Larkin for pix, Yzerman should be literally shot into the sun. |

still trying to get over that gerbe said the only reason botts moved ror was to get tage
you can't script a story this unbelievable - homiedclown
I haven’t gotten there yet
Stopped back reading bc of all the incessant whining
NO ONE hated that trade more than me
But unfortunately it seems as though it was a deal Botts was told to make
Sucks he couldn’t get a better return
But we can’t do anything about that now except hope that Tage actually turns into something |

Craig Custance's "Who Says No?" piece:
3. Minnesota trades defenseman Matt Dumba and a 2021 fourth-round pick to Toronto for William Nylander
– @tannergrina
That doesn’t get it done for Nylander, who has been great this season. We’ll get more into Dumba in a minute.
Exec: “Toronto says no. Good rule of thumb for people making these proposals: If you’re throwing a 2021 fourth-round pick into the deal, it’s because you aren’t offering anywhere near enough, and you know it. That 2021 fourth isn’t going to change that.” |

He could join the space force, Bettman does want global expansion. A team on the moon would have a big home advantage. |

How about Detroit gives us Larkin, and in return we send them a case of seafood and a third-rounder.
It's a squid-pro-quo. |

That’s absolute utter nonsense
GMTM was left with tons of picks that he squandered
Both by trading them away & making terrible choices
Continuing to draw a parallel between the 2 is a real reach
And just shows your exaggerated bias of the situation |

I'd like to see that link
Who was in it? We're talking '13-'14 when he took over, prior to the draft.
We had nothing, that's why we were doing the rebuild. |

This is how execs view later picks. They're used for non impact players. If you want an impact player, you probably have to give up a a first and at the very least, a decent prospect with good upside.
These "here's a bunch of picks" do not happen 99% of the time, thanks for Jeff Skinner. |

because the only way the wings would trade larkin is for a player like dahlin or risto with a first and 2nd, or reinhart and the 2020 first round pick, not lottery protected - homiedclown
Yes I agree with you
Jcrags tissues, assumes that we should have saved all our picks and not made any trades, instead save those picks for a big trade.
Larkin would be a big trade in my opinion
He makes it really easy, too easy |

How you interpret those facts is up to you |

I would think a move involving a player like Timo Meier would be conducted in the offseason but perhaps I’m wrong. - Pegullaville
This is the type of player we’d want
But why is SJ (or any other team) giving up good young players like this?
Yeah, it happens here n there
But usually for other good young players
Not for the garbage that ppl think we can send for them
I forgot though...
Trades are easy, and 2Cs are traded all the time |

I disagree with you.
So that constitutes a children's reading level?
You have a problem, you repeat the same thing all day everyday. Many disagree with you and provide context, you ignore it and continue to cry over and over about Botterill.
After this offseason, Botterill will have no more excuses.
What's to say that he had a 4 year plan?
This is year 3.
Just keep crying though - Boss34
Like I said, if you find it too upsetting to read a differing opinion from yours, that's a you problem, not a me problem.
I read plenty of support for jason Botterill. I dont call people names for supporting him, but I try to articulate my point of view as to the facts at hand. If you can't handle reading a differing opinion, that's on you. I am always open to revising my opinion |

Approximately 29% of all picks have an NHL career. Let's say over 100 games in the course of their career.
If we use that metric, at least 3 and up to 4 players from 2013 will have had an NHL career. 3/11 = 27%, 4/11 = 36%. Darcy did at least average, if not above average for the 2013 draft. |

There are parallels that I laid out. Whether you want to acknowledge it is up to you. Is he as bad as TM? (frank) no, of course not. Is that good enough? I say no |

4th rounder in 2020 (scandella)
3rd rounder in 2021 (vesey)
2nd rounder in 2021 (miller)

And I pointed out that in 12 months, Botterill has traded a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and Guhle. The parallels are there. Whether you choose to acknowledge it is up to you - jcragcrumple
Two 1sts two 2nds a 3rd and a 7th in the 2015 draft alone is not comparable to what you listed. You also add Guhle in there and he's never going to be as good as any of the dmen Timmy traded away, and fail to mention the 6 former 1st rounders he included in those trades as well as three in the top 10 of the 2nd round.
Complain all you want (I know nobody needs to tell you that), but bringing in gap fillers for the middle six while trying to rebuild the prospect pool and shedding bad contracts was a necessary move by Botts. When your entire prospect pool and future is traded away you have to find a way to get back on track, and that's what Botts is doing.
62 points, 76 points, potential to get to 90 points. If you don't see any progress being made than there is no helping you. |
