Lazar could have done the same job as Vesey
Miller is totally redundant on this team and not necessary
Asplund can do what Frolik does
The trades were unnecessary, especially considering that the primary defense for Botterill here is "he isnt interested in short term fixes"
He is interested in short term fixes, but his answers are answers to a question no one asked. - jcragcrumple
Lazar- 3 nhl goals in the past 3 seasons
Vesey - 50 nhl goals in the past 3 seasons
Asplund- 3 career nhl points in 28 games
Frolik - 382 points in 837 nhl games
Stop crying about Botterill (allday again)
Erod sucks

If you find it too upsetting to have your sabres worldview questioned, the Buffalo and Erie County Library has a wonderful collection of children's books you can read that wont require you to think too hard |

If you're trading that 1st it better be for a Meier, Larkin type player. - Buff36
I would move our 1st and borgen, asplund and a future 2nd for Larkin.
Lottery protected.
Substitute borgen with any other d man.

This is what was traded away in approximately a 15 month timeframe. A couple of minor deals sprinkled in there, but these were the ones involving major assets. A lot of depth there and add two 1sts, four 2nds and a 3rd. This would be a completely different team if TMGM didn't get carte blanche when he arrived here. Would have been better off sticking with Darcy and Ruff. Would have liked to see what Darcy could have done with all the assets he compiled along with the ability to spend to the cap, and that's coming from someone who disliked Darcy a lot.
Nikita Zadorov
Mikhail Grigorenko
J.T. Compher
2015 2nd round pick
Brendan Lemieux
Joel Armia
Drew Stafford
Tyler Myers
2015 1st round pick
2015 1st round pick
Mark Pysyk
2016 2nd round pick
2016 3rd round pick
2nd round pick
2nd round pick
Brayden McNabb
Jonathan Parker
This is the biggest misconception there is.
In 3 years, Botterill made 18 selections at the draft, that's on average, less than one per round. Murray made 27 selections in 3 drafts - jcragcrumple
Sure GMTM did make more picks and that is good if you are looking for quantity over quality. Good for Timmy though for picking two extra 5th, 6th and 7th round picks.

I disagree with you.
So that constitutes a children's reading level?
You have a problem, you repeat the same thing all day everyday. Many disagree with you and provide context, you ignore it and continue to cry over and over about Botterill.
After this offseason, Botterill will have no more excuses.
What's to say that he had a 4 year plan?
This is year 3.
Just keep crying though

That doesn't really fit the narrative though.
He traded nearly a full draft's worth of picks for Vesey, Miller and Frolik
2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th.
What patience! - jcragcrumple
And GMTM traded away about 63 picks
That was a dumb comparison to try & make |

And I pointed out that in 12 months, Botterill has traded a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and Guhle. The parallels are there. Whether you choose to acknowledge it is up to you |

Good post.
According to jcrags tissues, we could just give Detroit a bunch of 2nd 3rd and 5th round picks for Larkin
Why hasnt botts made this big trade instead of small trades? |

Montour trade is going to be right up there with the oreilly trade if he just walks. Gave up a decent prospect and a first round pick and then built a roster that set Montour up for failure
Like, its really hard to see anything that botteril has done as not awful - robz228

because the only way the wings would trade larkin is for a player like dahlin or risto with a first and 2nd, or reinhart and the 2020 first round pick, not lottery protected

Yes the they are, but the difference is that he wouldn't have had to make some of those trades if some of those prospects would have been available to fill slots. |
