I figured. 26 years old and a fantastic contract. Still nice to dream though. |

I did, and that was a mistake. He'll get a modest raise and be worth it. |

Right cause franchise players have any say who they play with and Jack didn't come in with the mindset of being more of a goal scorer this year. Skinner needs the puck to create goals while VO don't. You think Jack has 28 playing with Skinner all year.
Just cause I don't post on here doesn't mean I don't know your a loser that needs 6 different usernames in order to get his only human contact from a hockey website that people don't even like him on. Can't wait to see your episode of my 600 lb life. Meet you at 187th and 187th I will be the one wearing your ass for a hat - crownourazzes

I respect the wild optimism. The Sabres still have a few concerns that JB may want to consider addressing.
-Goaltending seems like a glaring weakness. Ullmark needs to be given a contract, and a raise is to be expected. Hutton is bad and still under contract. Theoretically, Botts could jettison him, but that does not seem like his style. May be stuck with him.
-Forward depth is nearly non-existent. VO and Sam would seem to be in line for generous raises; eating into the perceived vast cap space.
Quite a few holes to fill, and relying on TT and Casey to be major contributors to the top 6 is something of a leap of faith.
And any significant injury to Jack most likely kills any playoff hopes.
Risto, Dahlin, Joker, Miller, and McCabe is a decent start. Montour will be looking for a generous raise. I guess Borgen could be a possible 7th.
Now it sounds like word is out among players that Buffalo may not be the Hockey Heaven fans here would like to believe it is. Many players seem downright miserable here. So I would not expect free agents to be pushing each other out of the way to sign here. It seems there is some work to be done. - PrinceChill
Even with this piss poor offence, with average NHL goaltending we are most likely 2-4 points out of a playoff spot instead of 10.
I really don’t think we are as far away as some think, however I do understand the view points of others and understand the criticisms of several posters on here thinking that Botts is not the one to put the additional touches on here to take the next step.
Our most glaring weaknesses ranked from 1-4 imo are:
1) 1A/1B goalie (depending on the perception of Ullmark)
2) 2C (at least until Cozens or Mitts can establish themselves as such)
3) Top 4 LHD (allowing Pilut to be a solid 5/6)
4) Depth scoring.

Mojo-???-Cozens/?
Girgensons/?-Larsson-Okposo
Dahlin-Montour

Ullmark/?
Now we have guys like Mitts, Lazar, Ruotsalinen, Asplund, Tage that might solve some of those question marks up front. Pekar and Davidsson should hopefully start their professional careers in Rochester next year also to start the next phase of their development.
I really like Jacob Bryson as well and think he has an NHL future after one more year in the AHL along with Borgen. Samuelsson should make the jump to the AHL next year also and we’ll see what we have with him. Ryan Johnson will go back to Minnesota and have a bigger role and play a big part of the U.S WJC team.
Jonas Johansson I don’t see being anything more than a backup goaltender at the NHL level if not a strong organizational #3 and would not want to go into next year with himself and Ullmark as the tandem. |

Especially with the expansion draft coming up, I expect some quantity for quality type deals.
As easily as some of those players I mentioned could fill some of those question marks in the above post, I think it’s just as likely they can be moved for those said question marks.
Miller, Asplund, Tage, Borgen, I would not hesitate to move at all in the right deal to bring in relatively young top 9 forward talent. |

I'll be honest, I haven't looked into the Sabres' expansion options at all. We're gonna lose one player, and when it happens I'll shrug and move on I guess. Especially if it's Colin Miller, it's not like we're using him anyway. |

Solid post
I think Samuelsson goes back to college for his Junior year though
Bryson seems to have a chance,
but let’s see what happens if he ever gets a shot in the NHL. Idk what to think of him yet |

16. Toronto Maple Leafs. How big of a hole did the start under Mike Babcock put them in? They are 16-7-3 since the coaching change — the sixth-best record in the league during that stretch — and one of the hottest teams in the league, and they are still four points out of a playoff spot at the moment. October and November games count, too. A lot more than people realize.
Nope, that definitely doesn't track. Everyone knows that real hockey doesn't start until February, and real football doesn't start until November. |

1A someone that’s not afraid of their own shadow on the ice, we have no team tuffness. Bunch of cream puffs out there.
The GM wont totally fix one of these nevermind four things... embrace the suck. We make the oilers look like a well run franchise. |

Yea I forgot the Sabres winning the presidents trophy and the Blues drafting top 5 last year, oh wait.....
Also the Titans finished the year 7-3 this year after starting 2-4 and played in an AFC championship game. How did the Patriots and Bills make out after padding those early season wins and fading down the stretch ? |
