Been a good progression to follow so far, from waiver wire to team MVP. Not easy for any player to do. - Load Management

Shhhhhh. The hippies are having a flashback.
There's also the other side of the coin where people watched the team erode itself to the basement. So it's understandable that they'd want it to end asap. I think for some it manifests itself through lack of patience with prospects. - Load Management
Yeah... the basement. There was this movement that wanted to keep eroding but at the same time expect prospects to come in and shine. |

Like most of the debates on here, that was settled. You'll have to accept it's Neil Peart and move on. |

Whatever, fans will be fans. People will always want and expect different things.
You can even dissect it down to a prospect by prospect basis. As Carol pointed out some seem to get more rope than others.

In the case of Canucks fans, they're ecstatic about the upside of 24-year-old Brogan Rafferty, but already worried about Podkolzin. As a college free agent, Rafferty was certainly a nice find, but whether this recent scoring outburst turns out to be a blip or the start of something big, let's give the kid, Podkolzin, some time!
Well said Carol. - Makita

we all asked that Boeser be held accountable for his lack of finish/two-way playing/defensive play, we get that when he got demoted to the 3rd line, he has been leaps and bounds better since being singled out, and now we are wanting to trade him for 2nd pairing at-best Dman. this thread sometimes lol - Codes1087
Aren't ya glad Jim didn't sign him 8 x 8 as some suggested |

Yup. Rafferty is a good story especially for depth. But how can he be better then Stecher based on AHL performance. Pouliot is killing it there but was outperformed by Stecher in the Canuck line up. They are all close in age its not a teenager prospect comparison. |

@Hockey_Robinson
Did You Know - Through 185 career games, Brock Boeser's 159 points are more than:
• Brayden Point
• Mikko Rantanen
• Jack Eichel
• Vlad Tarasenko
• Taylor Hall
• John Tavares
• Sebastian Aho
• David Pastrnak
• Nikita Kucherov
So, what's wrong with Boeser? - NorthNuck
Nothing at all . He is close to a PPG and his D is improving

Pot officially stirred!
Whoever said we dont need whoever we have Hughes fack off. How about go get another Hughes so our two top pairings are fantastic. Use Boeser if we can and then add another winger. The entire point was Dmen are harded to get. We can find another Boeser way easier than another Quinn. A quinn and say a makar the build the forward core we would be set for 10 years. Im the idiot I understand though creating another hole to fix one is dumb. Gimme a break. Go nucks great season so far |

You just don't know until it happens. Rafferty will get his chance but it's tough all over the league for Dmen to break through unless they are solid blue chippers. It is not an easy position to play, nor master, at the speeds we expect these guys to play at.
Stetch is a good D man, but you just can't dress 2 smurfs back there unless one's an absolute pitbull. So, I'd assume he is in the process of losing his place to Hughes. No shame in that.

Yes though the way NHL D is being played is changing. It's more about skating, puck movement and positioning over size.
Stecher and Hughes are both playing in the healthy D line up that's winning now. Only Edler has lost his place to Hughes on the PP. Rafferty is not a big mobile D man if that's what it would take to displace Stecher. |

We'll revisit this as the games get heavier down the stretch and the rules relax completely should we make the playoffs.
Rafferty isn't displacing anyone just yet. He's still too far down the depth chart and has to claw his way up. But he's 6'2" 195 and skates really well from what I've seen. Not sure what qualifies as big and mobile in your books. |

Agree on Rafferty. He's closer in weight to Stecher then a big D man who's more like 210 plus pounds. Sure strength and hitting will be needed in the play-offs.
The D changes are more likely to happen due to injury or in the off season over cap. Even if Tryamkyn were to come he'd have a hard time getting in. |

If you guys like Fantenberg you will like Rafferty. They played a few games together and looked like they played together for year.
Both excellent skaters . Rafferty was the better player of the two of them.
Rafferty is a better passer , stronger and bigger than Stecher, he has a better shot . Just like Fatenberg makes some mistakes you can count on Rafferty have a bad game or two also. That statement can be true of any Canuck D man.
Guys like Stecher are a dime a dozen. I am not ragging on Stech but lets get serious . It is not like he is a Norris finalist. |

Did you listen to the interview the other morning (could have been today, it’s been a long day) with Raffy? Confused with a serial killer when he was 16 :yikes:
PS, I think they will either trade Stech, or not qualify him in the off season. They will need to find savings where they can, and I think they will want Tanev more. |

Yeah, sounds like a smart kid, got cut a few times, moved from C to D and made the team. Good training, good mentors, yadda yadda.
TV station in Ohio I think posted his picture in a news story about the Craig’s List Killer, who had the same name. Bizarre |

I remembered that from when he first signed. Maybe he can use it to his advantage in a fight " Do you know who I am ?" |
