Canuck stars did okay in skills.

Hope they shine more in the fun games.

Maybe QH impresses to pick up some votes for the calder.

Edler and Tanev didn't start out as top pairing guys . It took them years to grow into that. Both Rafferty and OJ can play in the NHL and there will be errors. Rafferty and OJ will both grow into top 4 guys.

My opinion is it is crazy to throw big money at Barrie or Dumba .

Rafferty will be second unit PP before the end of next year.

- VANTEL

With Rafferty in the system and Hughes already established, going after Barrie or Dumba becomes kind of redundant.

Edler was a second paring 21+ minute guy his first full year in the league at twenty one years old, he’s always been a very good player.

Ollie Juolevi is a bust, plain and simple, it’s sad but true.

OJ is 21 right now. I'm sure he'd be in the NHL if he didn't get hit with his string of injuries and setbacks. Ain't a bust yet

Edit:

Edler at 20 in the AHL: 49 GP 5G 21A 26 PTS
OJ at 21 in the AHL: 36 GP 2 G 20 A 22 PTS

Both are prone to having very good and very bad games.

Demko has only 25 games of NHL experience. Kind of hard to believe but you need about 60 to get NYR type deals for goalies.

Derek Stepan
Antti Raanta

For

Anthony DeAngelo
2017 1st round pick

Antti Raanta is not good.

And then they drafted Lias Andersson. All of a sudden the Coyotes are winning the trade.

Yup, but if OJ turns into another Edler, I'd be quite happy.

DeAngelo has turned out to be pretty good but that's a top 10 and top 20 pick for basically Demko and Gaudette.

I'd trade Demko and Gaudette to get a top 10 and top 20 pick in this draft.

They play very different games, Edler is big, heavy and used to drill guys with great hits as well as being offensive, OJ is tall but slighter, although not light by any means, he is pure offence and uses his intelligence to avoid contact and move the puck.

I just read an article in the Athletic about how Quinn Hughes was available at #7 for Benning and Brackett. Some good quotes from general manager’s, including Benning. Benning admitted Hayton was really high on their list too, although behind Hughes, when the Coyotes took Hayton and Detroit was all but forces to pick Zadina, Hughes was all ours.

I guess Detroit, a direct quote from Holland, had two dmen ahead of Hughes so even if they passed on Zadina they wouldn’t have taken Hughes.

Id much prefer Dumba. 2 good puck movimg dmen would be awesome. If we can somehow make loui disappear keeping Brock signing barrie and losing Tanev would get my vote. I like Tanev dont get me wrong but I think barrie would bring more to the table is all obviously in a different way

It feels like tanev has been on the team forever and I have no idea what the outside world sees him as. Do calm, stick checking, first pass d-men who don’t generate much offence but can poop down top guys get paid over 5M?

MTL's pick looking solid this season Just Kidding!
8 points in 35 games.

I liked Farabee around 10th in that draft.

Agreed, prospect pipeline is being built up so best to keep adding younger, cheaper pieces that can be added to the line-up each year (as opposed to adding expensive UFAs to support the core - that portion of JB’s plan is over now that the core is in place and they have had time to learn from the veterans). Moving forward, JB will keep building the prospect depth.

I think they will offer Tanev 3 years 5 per.

They will bring in Rafferty before next year to play for a cool 700 K

They will bring back Tryamkin at 1 mil one year as a 6/7 Dman and trade him later in the year.

Edler Myers
Hughes Tanev
Fantenberg Rafferty ( They have played together)

Tryamkin

OJ first call up

Total cost for D 21 mil not sure what happens to Benn

- VANTEL

I agree with all this, but I think it's a fairly safe bet if they bring Tryamkin in he will be slotted in ahead of Fantenberg right off the bat.
