What about Eric Staal?

Gaudette plus Utunen for Eric Staal?

Do you really think we have a team that can go all the way this year or next? Patience man, the team is very young.
- NorthNuck

There's always two sides. This team right now and maybe will never be this healthy again and you have 10 players that are having career years. A lot are young and this could be their level out season.

This team right now could be the best it's every going to be.

To substantially increase the chances of winning a cup.
- manvanfan

He’s not substantial and he doesn’t increase the chances enough - especially not enough to mortgage AGs future - bad idea

If we can buy low then yes. He's physical, and has a bomb of a shot from the point. And Minny plays a defensive style so he's learned to play both ends and likely has more offensive upside than he's shown in that system.
- Nucker101

Replaces Stetcher who has the heart but Dumba can handle more physicality & scoring is much better.

I think Dumba could take off playing with better talent. Plus I love that he's not soft and his learned to play defense in that system.
- Nucker101

Exactly what we need.

Adding four pieces of trash together doesn’t gain a top 4 dman.

Lol. Been chasing her for 4.5 years. Don’t know what to do now that I was successful 😬

I'd just be worried the cost will outweigh the benefit given our right side is pretty decent right now.
- NorthNuck

Agree but with Stetcher looking for a probable raise an upgrade is worth exploring & pull the trigger.

Dumba at 50% retained is a very valuable asset. The package would start with a 1st imo. Stecher is worth nothing. Tryamkin maybe a 3rd. Your other pieces had no value. We don’t have a first. Maybe our 2nd, gaudette and Hoglander. I’d pass

I do have to wonder what people think Gaudette's future is going to look like sometimes.

I’d be willing to throw in the vcr in my attic and a few other pieces of garbage in this amazing deal where we get an all-star somehow.
- neem55

Don & yourself hash it out unless you believe this a final offer & no negotiating is there.

That's a possibility, but is not likely. Since the star players having career years are young, they're not likely to regress in the same manner as a vet might.

Working with the same maybes, maybe we trade for Dumba and he gets hurt his first game and we've sunk our depth. I think this year things are clicking, but I'd wait til next year to see if it's sustainable/the norm, and then make a move.

Wasn't it Colorado who made the playoffs like 5 years ago, crashed out the next one or two, then have been on the up and up? See something like that for the Canucks.

‘EVER GOING TO BE’

You mean as of now or later?

If now then asset management for the right player that fills need should be explored. Any trade of this nature needs cap management to be fully considered.

So working with maybes, maybe this is the right time and maybe this isn't the right time. We've come back full circle.

Middle 6 offensive-minded center, a Bonino type? Maybe better if he has the inner drive to improve that guys like EP, Sedins, Kesler, etc have

I think Madden actually has a higher ceiling.

Thx

So I’ll be JB & you be Minny’s GM

Dumba for Sven/Stetcher/Tryamkin/2nd

Cap has to work for us. None if my offers will include a 1st. Aim is to help restock Minny & do with cheaper contracts til they can somehow get out from their big contracts.

For sure - he’s on pace for 40ish pts in his first full season as a 3rd line C - getting sheltered/limited mins, a bit of PP2 time and a carousel of wingers. It’s always great when guys exceed or double their point totals from the previous season in less games - that’s enticing growth. In 2 years time playing with someone like Hog or Virtanen - who knows, he could put up 50-60 points. Kid got the right attitude, work ethic and heart - that’s the kinda guy I wanna keep around for a long time.
