I don't think NJ could retain enough salary in that to make it work for the Leafs. |

Leafs would likely move AJ or Hyman before Nylander or Kapanen. |

I think Schultz + for Hyman would be good deal. Pens add either a pick or prospect, not a 1st or top prospect (well top for the Pens lol), but decent one. Leafs only need a rental. |

Trade Nylander of course.
Some points in regular season seems great - but come playoffs he will be invisible as in previous years.

Ghost for Kapanen straight up - black_francis
I am not sure this is fair value for the Flyers. 60 point D-men (even ones who cough the puck up and miss the net a lot now) are close to IMPOSSIBLE to find.
Sami's son is a nice player but not a game-changer.
I would rather see Ghost and a solid but not A-list prospect to WPG to Buff but not sure how to make the $$$ work in the short term.
The Flyers would be SO SO SO SCARY with Big Buff out there even if for two years and he retired. He's not Pronger (nobody is) but he's in the ball park.
WPG would replace a malcontent in Buff with a young D-man with PROVEN high upside on a killer contract AND a prospect.
That looks like a win-win to me.

A 60 point dman suggest he does that regularly. He had one good year offensively, hasn't come close to matching it, and is horrendous defensively.
Value wise, I can't imagine any teams coughing up more than a guy like Hyman, in fact, probably not as much. Not for a dman that can be more accurately described as someone you can expect 30, maybe 40 points, and a disaster in his own zone. Maybe more like Kerfoot or something.
But, I doubt you'd see much interest from the Leafs anyway. The Leafs need a defensive dman, not Gostisbehere. |

I'd post a trade response in which the Leafs get the Habs good players for the Leafs scraps, but there isn't really much I'd want from the Habs. - prock

I'd be surprised if Nylander gets traded with his performance this year, but the Leafs are wayyy too top heavy capwise, need to distribute some of that money to the blue line. - Bartacus
You can disregard anyone who wants to trade Nylander as an outdated Mark Hunter fan. There is no chance whatsoever that the Leafs trade him. |

Nylander, Holl, 1st to Carolina |

why on earth would they trade those guys?
2 good forwards, on good contracts......makes zero sense. leafs are in a "try to win now" mode.....they aren't going to trade away 2 of their best forwards. maybe there's a chance with kapanen, but i'd say zero chance with nylander
nobody is giving up a young top pairing d-man for those guys, so there's no point.
trade players like Bracco, johnsson, spezza.......can prob recoup some picks, or get a serviceable young dman |

come on man, the rangers aren't moving an 18 year old 2nd overall pick....not happening. even if you took gerogiev out of that deal and it was kakko alone, guaranteed the rangers still say no |

Ugh, trade Nylander talk again? He's going nowhere. Thankfully Dubas kept him and signed him to a good contract long-term. - RogerRoeper
It’s actually the best contract Dubas has done |

I like your moxie - trading for a guy who may never play again! |

It would take both Nylander and Kapanen in a trade to get a top pairing d-man at this point in the season. |
