What about this guy as a winger. He can really skate and has solid hockey sense. Good possession numbers at a reasonable price.

It's not about his offence it's about his pk and match-ups against the best center-man in the eastern conference . It is astounding that pundits such as yourself that apparently watch games don't know this and the numbers on this player have never told the whole story ,pathetic take in my opinion

I agree with the sentiment - too much emphasis only on scoring. Granted, the Pens are trying to replace or at least improve the production since Kessel and Guentzel are gone this season, but the point about the overall game remains. However, Pens are pretty set at PK, not that I would turn down a good PKer if available. And can you really have too many good centers?

I could see a scenario where we move McCann to 1LW and trade Bjug+ to the Sens for Pageau and put Pageau at 3C. If acquiring a top 4 PM LD is prohibitively expensive, this would be my second option behind RW. In fact, if Horny worked well enough with Malkin at 2RW, this could be option #1 for me.

He was brought up before but he makes Bjug look like the picture of health. Not sure if the Pens want to go down that road.

Would gladly take him. He will fit right in playing 50-60 games a year. I remember looking at him before. He’s like 2.8m or something like that and rfa after next year.

You didn't even pick Zadina nor Larkin in this weeks HBSL https://fantasy.hockeybuzz.com/hbsl/boxscore/6210... and of course your name can't be found in top128, but excuses always will be plenty... you little analysis wannabe.

On a serious note does anyone know how to get the Calgary Edmonton game on the 29th? I’d usually say nothing will happen but I really don’t think Kassian gives a (frank) who is at the game.

I'm a little fascinated that we -always cap striving- activated Schultz before All-Star break, especially as he didn't even play Tue.
- VeryModernMan

We weren't using LTIR, so activating Schultz didn't hurt the cap and actually allowed them to send another player down and still be at the 20 man minimum during the break.

They have the Blueger line to do that already though. They could also reform last year's shutdown line with Bjugstad. Not to mention Crosby. They just don't need a shutdown center.

Maybe they don't *need* a shutdown center, but if one is available, I'd kick the tires at least. I'd like McCann to be 1LW and Bjug to be gone, so I'd be pretty stoked about Pageau as 3C. As it is, McCann can play 3C, but he should really be in the top 6. Bjug can also play it, but he's not the best center and he's always hurt - I don't want to rely on him being healthy when it matters.

I actually thought Bjug was really solid last season at 3C. I think he was with Horny and Simon?... But they were a great defensive line.

Maybe he was limited this year due to the injury?

Regardless.... Our need for a top six wing is much greater

Meh - he was on pace for 23-13 but had good underlying numbers. Laid a goose egg in the playoffs. My biggest problem is that he makes $4.1M and is constantly injured. Players who are always injured either need to make less money or be difference-makers when they are healthy to justify their spot on the roster, IMO.

I agree about the need for a top 6 winger, but I would be sorely tempted to roll with:

McCann - Crosby - Rust
Kahun - Malkin - Horny
Galch - Pageau - Simon
ZAR - Blueger - Turbo

We could always swap out Galch for a top 6 winger, too, and move Horny down a line (move Simon to the left side).

Fair enough... Just feels like everyone acts like Bjug is awful. I think, when healthy, he's more useful than Galch.

I'd rather McCann at 3C but your option is prob better than acquiring two top 6 guys

I do like Pageau because he brings speed, scoring ability and some defense/pk ability. I do worry though because we have traded with Ottawa previously in the past for a center which I believed would excel here. I do think that Galch gets swapped one for one and I think JR makes another move. I have a gut feeling it will be for Zucker if he becomes available. I think JR wants to acquire talent so he can also forecast the cap space for next season. I think he has an idea what he wants to sign a few of our FA's to cap hit wise, but bringing in Pageau I could see him wanting a significant raise from his current 3 mil cap hit (potentially 6 million which is a bit much for a 3rd line center for our team). I could see a potential Galch swap for Mikael Granlund (I never realized how poor his scoring stats were this season).

Maybe JR makes a Bjugstad type trade with Nashville.

Galchenyuk for Granlund I'd do it. Change of scenary for both players...although I don't see much difference between them production wise. The difference would be in type of play and Granlund would help us more imo.

Bjugstad + B Prospect should be enough to bring Zucker for sure but I don't feel like we need to trade #27. He's a good 3rd line player and defensively responsible.

Yeah, probably more frustration than anything (at least from my perspective). But, in 10 games this year and 4 playoff games last year, Bjug has a grand total of 1 goal and 0 assists. Maybe he was playing injured, but he has been unproductive and/or injured for almost a calendar year now. That's too much - I think it's time to move on and wish him well. I'm guessing he has neutral to negative trade value, though.

For sure he's more useful than Galch and I would take him over Galch in a heartbeat, injury considerations aside. But, unfortunately, he's just too much of a risk to depend on, either during the season but especially during the playoffs.
