Bergevin's trade record is pretty damn good indeed.

It's the draft and the decisions regarding UFA's that killed him.

UFAS don't come here, regardless of the gm.

I'm thinking he means things like the Radulov incident.

They were pending UFA's, if I remember correctly. Signed early, yes, but to inflated contracts that some found to be unpalatable.

Some people didn't like the Weber move, either, based on age, length of contract, and cap hit, but it's a brilliant long term play, IMHO. *If* he decides to retire earlier, we trade him back to the Preds for a kings ransom, as the penalty to the Preds no matter which team he's on is insane.

Part of my current chattiness right now is in honour of both Karine and Uncle Hab. I've been *way* of topic a lot lately, so I just want those two in particular to know I can talk Habs, honest!

the problem with that trade was not the trade itself, but the fact that MB stopped there! he didn't follow with the next required moves such as finding a #1C and a #1LD.
yes he traded for Domi, but that was 2 years later.

The problem with playing in a market like Montreal, is you will have people pissing all over your moves, one way or another. It's like the government... You make supporters of one party happy, and tick off the other party. It's just the way it is. If you try and totally revamp your team in one off season, maybe 2, then eventually you trade your future for right now.

Oh, hush, you, lol. Chrome automatically translates the French text on the page for me...not perfect Québécois French, but enough so I get the gist. You're just a cranky old stodger.

It lacks 2 K's for me to consider being offended.
