Yes, they are. And I have the sickening feeling that if they stick to their guns, we are going to be carrying 3 goalies until July 1st. And that is not the best scenario.

seems like like this is a cut ties with andersen type trade for us. the writing will be on the wall and dubas will schneider andersen ala vancouver if he brings in george now.

a 4th for r.miller is the stop gap for this year and re-visit this one at the draft imo.

Over the last three seasons, only seven goalies have saved 0.2 goals above expected per game or more. Georgiev is one of them, joining John Gibson, Ryan Miller, Ben Bishop, Antti Raanta, Darcy Kuemper and Jordan Binnington. It’s that last name that’s most intriguing as Georgiev’s numbers are nearly identical to Binnington’s over the same amount of games.

Check yourself... He's far from done...

People also forget that goalie stats change to a degree depending on the team. Put Price in St. Louis and see what his numbers look like. Se how many rebounds get cleared from the front of the net.

The Rangers have said they want t top 6 forward they can plug in now, not a prospect. They are trying to raise the bar.

That's a fair statement. New York can ask for whatever they want. He's their asset.

It's up to Dubas to set a line internally as to what he's willing to pay and to not cross that line.

He's already made a couple of mistakes, I think, in negotiating with Matthews & Marner. I understand you keep your young stars happy, and there's an expectation that the cap will go up enough to cover resigning them - which is probably why he and Pridham felt they could do these numbers - but still. We all know they were overpayments.

I think any good GM would set a perceived acquisition value. If what you're willing to pay is exceeded - walk away. There's no benefit to mortgaging your future when you already know better.

Ryan Miller on the cheap is the most realistic move at this point. But I think he as a NTC so maybe not.

i'm a little weary of paying a premium for a 6'1" potential starter.

he could easily get completely picked apart by opposing forwards with all the time and space we give them to shoot.

I can't even argue with that. You need to be getting a guy who's really good at making hard saves because we give up a lot of good looks.

The High Danger chances are lessening, but the quality of those chances is just alarming. We give up main Street on the rush way too often and odd-man chances way too often.

I saw your post earlier defending the goals against in Chicago. I won't dispute that the play of the team led to the chances - but I will say that I expect Andersen to have saved at least 3 of those. Those weren't the glorious chances we're speaking of.

. . . but some games. Yeesh.

I wonder if Muzzin and Rielly's injuries will allow us to sign them for cheaper

I would be worried if it takes Rielly 2 years to heal.

it's tough. you think back to the game in vancouver where he made 3 or 4 saves (something completely ridiculous) on full on breakaways.

some games he's not going to do it.

If he had repeated last year's production and voted 4th in Norris again, he'd be looking for a 7x10 contract this offseason. Now that's off the table...we'll see what happens

Actually I got it from the Athletic... point is he'd be a really good backup in Leaf land...

Way better than what is there now...
