Not sure if this has been floated, but is Kapanen done in Toronto?

The Leafs like Kapanen, but he's a bit of a luxury as a bottom 6 RW behind Marner and Nylander and they really need D help. I believe they aren't actively shopping him, but he can be had though they may want more for him than what he scores now because they know he'll do better elsewhere if he fits top six time.

Is Zucker that worth it that gmjr should be so set on getting him. He doesn’t seem like anything special.

Even with a down year last year, Zucker was a top ten ES scorer over the three prior years and he plays that fast, 2 way possession game Sully employs. He's suffered from the Wild losing guys like Granlund and Neiderreiter, but here I feel he'd get back to 25-30 goals and 50-60 points while playing our style. He's not a good PP guy which keeps him from the elite group, but at ES he's outstanding.

I'd prefer a RW. I like the option of McCann at LW and thought Kahun fit well with Malkin and Rust so once Guentzel geta back, I felt we had good options at LW already. So Zucker isn't my top option. But if we got him, Kahun, Simon, and Hornqvist battling for that last top 6 spot and the other 2 playing with McCann isn't bad either.

EDIT- Also Poulin is a LW and it wouldn't shock me if he's an option next year since he's physically ready and doesn't have much left to prove in juniors.

I would look for a geuntzel clone. Smart about the puck with putting himself in position to anticipate what Crosby will do. Someone with hockey smarts that will mesh with Crosby's. Almost all other points are moot.

Except maybe will that player mesh likewise with Malkin as that whose line he would be moved to when Jake comes back. (this year? or next year?)

So Tatar is your guy.

This team has a log-jam at RW and while I know you like McCann at LW, which is where i preferred him last year, he's shown not only to be very effective a Center, he'd been more effective than Bjugstad at Center.

I'd honestly rather either move Bjugstad out or let him play RW wherever he can fit. Losing Jake ( a LW ) and Chucky not working (also a LW), I think LW should be the priority and let McCann make a tremendous 3rd line. This team has always been more successful when icing a terrific 3rd line, i.e. Staal and Bones.

EDIT: Logjam was probably the wrong word, but there’s definitely a bigger quality void at LW than RW at the moment.

I'd disagree about a RW logjam. There isn't an obvious option for Crosby's RW. Some possiblities like Bjugstad haven't been tried, but it's getting close to the deadline.

Zucker is a long-term move and I think with Guentzel eventually back they have enough LW options in McCann, Kahun, and Poulin. That said they do need help and can movw those pieces around so I'm not going to be mad if they get Zucker who I really like, I'd just prefer a RW.

I think McCann and whatever leftovers he plays with will really be the 4th line behind Blueger and he's better than that and can just play top 6 LW and move to center qhen Crosby or Malkin is hurt. But it's also not bad to have him elevating a bottom 6 line, so I can live with it and that might work best, it just isn't my first choice.

@Tojo

Not to beat a dead horse, but I’ve been saying they need two wingers: the one to replace Chuck not working out, or in essence the void at RW left by Kessel and replacing Jake, which is why I like Toffoli plus one of the rumored wingers.

Zucker-Sid-Toffoli
Kahun-Geno-Rust
Simon-McCann-Horn
ZAR-Blue-Tanev

I forget, what side does Granlund play? Unable to look it up right now.
