We have to assume Dorion knows the players and team better then all of us combined. In retrospect most of the moves hold water.
The ceiling is potentially higher for white despite this season and in " 2-4 " years there would be only a year or 2 left on the Pageau contract,so even that would not be a problem. At some point, and i do believe this trade deadline is it. The Sens have to start building the team they want. They cant be in permanent prospect, pick and developement mode. Do we really want to repeat the Oilers strategy?
That said if Pageau goes , so be it. Imo it wont help but wont be the move that ends all.

I believe you are missing my point, but so be it.

This year/draft is essentially the Sens last opportunity to load up on picks and prospects. Then you try to build with the tools that you have, which will take 2-4 years. I personally feel the assets brought in Pag would be worth more than veteran leadership. He’s having a career year which will likely never be equalled. Essentially, he will probably fall into Karlsson territory of course not as drastic contract. Time to sell high on the stock.

I hope your right that this is the last season of high lottery picks, we will see how it unfolds in next few years.
If thats the case trade him. Imo theres at least 1 more maybe 2 years of struggle to come and hopefully thats it. I just keep thinking of Edm.
Yep your right asset management is at a crucial point.

Yeah, Norris has been phenomenal.

I'll be honest on Davidsson - I'm not at the stage where I'm completely disappointed yet. He's sort of been forced into a tough role in Belleville with so many forward prospects down there, so the lack of success (to me anyways) isn't necessarily indicative of there being no step forward. I'll be interested to see what he does once the trade deadline passes and the logjam frees up a bit.

I watch a lot of Belleville games & believe me it's all Brown Brown, Brown. Norris & Formenton are not as good as their numbers would indicate. They're being developed as 3rd line players. Mann insulates them very well with top players. Formenton success is puck luck & hanging in soft areas.Norris has great shot & knack to be in right place. He's a winger trying to play center. Batherson spoon fed him before callup & now Brown on PP. Norris has potential to be goal scoring winger.

A+.

Most hockey fans think with their heart and they over value the players they love to support. In a rebuild, you have to shut down your feelings and make hard choices based on the actual value of an asset.

The value of asset is exactly what the highest bidder in your market is willing to pay.

Asset management is more then selling off. In fact thats the easiest decision to make, that any of us could do.Most hockey fans think thats all there is to it. And 1st rnd picks will turn the organization around on a dime. Real asset management has nothing to do with emotions but whats best for the team this year, next year and 3-5 years from now.. wich includes alot of multi level aspects. im not saying im right about Pageau its just my opinion . Last year i was anti Dorion, this year i am not. Same will probably hold true for the outcome of Pageau. Thats the reality of being a fan. Were a fickle lot but we all hope for the same thing.. winning.

Brannstorm spent too much time with Smith. He's totally confused. Abramov is goal scorer & needs someone to give him the puck & he's on Norris line same type of player.

Yes you are completely right. There is a really good case for resigning Pageau. It can be justified totally separate from my feelings. He plays the game the way you want everyone to play the game. He is a positive influence on every young guy in the dressing room.

On the other hand, he will be 30 years old before the Sens are a contender. He will never have more trade value than he does today

I should clarify that I don’t think we are making things interesting with a playoff push or anything next year but this year is a huge opportunity to stock the cupboards. Prospect taken this year and last year could potentially be good to go in 2-4 years - the timeline that the organization wants to be better. Sooner you get the prospects, the sooner they can potentially make an impact. Don’t rush of course. Next year will be important as well.
