I'd have to disagree based on a couple of instances.
When James Neal was straddling the line and waiting for the puck in the Stanley Cup and he's offside because he pushes off to start to move forward.
When Drouin was skating into the zone in the playoffs and his natural stride left him with no skate on the ice as he entered the zone.
Instances like last night where you are engaged with a player and you can't put your skate down because his foot or body is underneath you.

No advantage was gained in any above situation. The player's body (often half of it or more) is clearly above the blue line. It should be like football with an infinite line from the pylon, just upwards. It's an easier call than seeing if a skate was on the ice. That's my 2 cents.

I have to say I'm on team Tony. There will always be situations where it didn't really matter if it happened or there was some weird occurrence that led to the offside. However the rule is the rule, and one of the best things about the offside rule is that there is no grey area and it's either offsides or it isn't.

The other issue I have in tweaking the rule is that as we've seen especially in football, trying to remedy a rule like this often leads to even more controversy when people argue whether something or not is impacted. I wasn't a fan on the way it was in the 90s where if the puck even grazed your skate the goal didn't count, but the "distinct kicking motion" rule opened a huge can of worms over the years.

I see your point, but it has always been the case that defenders will essentially interfere with someone to put them offside and it has never been called.
I agree it would make the call easier, but I guess I'm just kind of a traditionalist. There really is nothing wrong with the rule as is. There is no reason it has to be like football.

lol it's like we are on the same wavelength or something

I get what you're saying but the rule could definitely use some refinement. It is flawed (In my opinion) as it is.

Tony D should have went. He has more points than Kreider plus he is a character

But that is a subjective rule and is definitely full of its own controversy. Having the line become a plane and not something you need to be touching would still be pretty cut and dry, just more definitive.

To be clear I am not sure that goal changes the game anyway. Georgiev was pretty piss poor last night.

Agreed and I will say it over and over, the only thing they should review is if a puck crosses the line for a goal, imo

I don't mind the review for egregious off sides but this is the caveat it comes with. They likely can't un-ring this bell. This rule is here to stay, at least make it better.

the guys on Rangers twitter who obsess over draft picks and prospects all seem to lust after John Beecher, Bruins pick from last year who plays at University of Michigan.

I would be shocked if Boston moved him but yes, he would be an awesome get

I dont think it factored into the decision to send Kreider

they needed to send another forward, that's all

who gives a rat's ass about this all-star game though, ughhhh

I don't, but some might.

I would agree he is the most deserving "All-Star" on the team aside from Panarin. It's really not even close.

The funny thing, is with the 3-3 you really don't need any defenseman

better yet, they could just skip it altogether

at least with Kreider there he may injure a goalie

I don't care what anyone says, I like the 3-3. Way better than 5-5 boring as hell. I think the last time the allstar game was good 5-5 was when Roenick started checking everyone.

Could make an argument for Strome, he's been pretty good, but has the benefit of playing with Panarin, where Tony D gets paired with Staal a bunch

I agree. I've watched it ever since they changed it. Before that, I hadn't really watched it since the NA vs the World days.

Problem with the Rangersis that they still have Smith and Haley on the team. They need to put Chytil on 2ed line with Bread. And Buch—-Z with CK20–KK. Strome with Howden and Kravtsov Fast , McKegg. Leimieu .Fast can play up in the line up when the game is on the line in the last 2 minutes of the game . It is scary and time for a popcorn run when ever they put the 4th line on,because there nothing going to happen. Smith needs be in AHL ,Haley need to be anywhere but on the Rangers
