I just don't think he's as replaceable as his stats say he is. His positioning is probably the best on the team. The mention of having a third line of Brass-Zuc-Pouliot is fair, I get that we need at least three lines to compete, but Fast is currently on the first line and it's producing. There's no indication that one of our prospects can handle the responsibility void if Fast were not here next year.
If you think he's taking up a spot, I point you in the direction of Buch who has all of 5 assists more than Fast |

Before we close this argument for another couple weeks and then go at it again, I think you guys forget signing Fast doesn’t happen in a vacuum. That money we save by playing a cheaper player is money that can be used to lock up ADA or whatever we decide to do with CK/Strome. Don’t forget too if we trade Georgie for Bracco or whoever we get, that guy takes up a contract and cap space too.
I’m sure everyone on this board will miss Fast. Those types of players though you really shouldn’t be paying though unless he’s that one missing piece. You’d rather just allocate those funds to the difference makers on the team.

I bet he’s in the fastest skater comp with McDavid and after that, they suck each other’s ding dongs and Kreider becomes an Oiler in a few short days. Just a hunch |

That is true, of course. But, part of my stance is that I believe it takes less than $1M extra to retain Fast.
Certainly, if he wants too much, then he goes the way of Hagelin. Also, since it was mentioned before I would take Quickie over Hags ANY DAY. He makes 1/10 the mistakes. |

This reminds me when back when the rangers didn’t protect Oscar when Vegas was about to select their team. Ranger fans were going crazy about losing him. Most fans don’t even remember him now |

I didn't want to lose Oscar, but was very happy he went and not Fast. |

I’m trying to point out guys come and go all the time a teams replace them. The top six and centres are hard to replace and bottom six not so much. |
