Regarding Gritty, wouldn't at least one of the other fans in attendance have noticed a grown man attacking a child? And shouldn't the father have been more upset about that than his original complaint of a poor picture? Sounds like extortion.

I can't believe you are turning a blind eye to mascot-on-child abuse. Shameful.

Not that I believe this story for a millisecond, but waàaaaay back in high school a buddy had a "job" through his mom - he used to dress up as a certain jumpy animal that made chocolate milk.

He used to get pummelled every time. He said the worst were university football games, where drunk students would tackle ahim and repeatedly do flying wrestling moves.

They somehow never made the connection that there was a human in the costume.

So while I 99% believe this is a hoax/money grab, if it is in fact true, the little franked probably deserved it.

Meh, you are just angry because of the way The Maple Leafs have been abusing their fans for 53 years.

Not sure why there is an accent in "waaaaaaay" but Frank it, I'm going to leave it.

Makes my post much classier.

Laughton for Carter at 50% should work under the cap.

Laughton is 10 years younger, but the Flyers don't seem to want to use him as the 3C.

- Feanor

Negative, Soldier!
Do you not realIze how valuable laughton is to this team?

Eklund just post the "noise".

Are you going to post the Provorov PP stats?

- MJL

Provorov on the PP has an xG of -0.3

Niskanen is -0.1. Ghost is +0.4

Provorov has a negative corsi while on the PP. Ghost and Niskanen are both firmly in the positive

Regarding the gritty story, dad has said his kid is ok, he’s not talked to an attorney, he wanted what happened acknowledged and investigated, and wanted his kid’s medical bill paid. He took him to a chiropractor and was diagnosed with a back contusion. Dad was a season ticket holder since ‘97 and canceled his season tickets.

Ivan Provorov has 13 power play points, with the two co-leaders having 20 among defensemen. Provorov still leads the way with 6 power play goals ahead of any defenseman in the league. So the Flyers are expected to shake things up for what reason?

I'm more concerned about overall success of the PP unit than individual stats. The PP is 19th in the league. That's not good enough. Unfortunately with Ghost out options are limited but I dont think it will hurt to try something new on the top unit, and I think switching Provy and Nisky is one move they could do. I also think they should replace TK with Coots on the top unit or move TK to Jake's spot and put Jake on unit 2.

I have stated many times that I think Provorov can become the no1 guy on the top unit but I dont think that time is yet. There is no harm in trying out these switches for a bit. If it doesnt work then they can go back to Provy but it's clear that a change needs to occur because the top unit has been a mess most of the season

The Gritty scandal sounds so unreal...it’s not April. I think I’m confused. Is this going to be a thing? All the children will now be coming out to accuse Gritty of causing boo-boos? This must be an only in Philly moment.

For the record, I’ve been in favor of going back to what’s worked dating back since Laviolette was here. I think Giroux on the left half wall, Voracek on the right, Couturier in the slot, JvR in the crease and a consistent Gostisbehere would be the way to go. Unfortunately players like JvR and Ghost aren’t playing to expectations. You can add Giroux to this list. So you go to the players who are earning and making the most of their ice time. Konecny and Provorov.

It makes no sense to complain about Ghost not being on the top unit if he’s not playing. We are getting the most production from Provorov. Metrics or whatever don’t really matter when Provorov is one of a few players on the team who is offering results.

I agree with your first paragraph

I know Provorov is producing individually but I think hes not helping the overall PP produce to the level it can as a group. You're right. Options are limited. A change needs to be made and I dont think G or Jake are getting taken off the unit so that leaves only a few options to switch things around.

I dont know if Niskanen is going to produce more. Usually advanced stats are a good indicator of future production, but you're correct in saying that Provy actually produces and that is what makes the decision tougher. Maybe throwing another defender on the top unit alongside Provy will help take some of the decision making pressure off of him.

Niskanen isn’t going to produce more than Provorov and as it stands, Giroux and Voracek aren’t playing on the same PP unit.

How did Brady Tkachuk replace Austin Matthews at the All-Star Game? He’s far from a point per game player.
