Not sure if VHG knows the details, all I heard was that it was a heavily contested pick in the front office/scouting room, the most during JB's tenure as GM. Not sure who wanted Pod and who was strongly against picking him, and why things escalated, but apparently it got heated lol

It’s not as if one guy is running the show, and has done particularly well ever since the president who oversaw his work got fired, is the one who put the crew together and makes the final calls.

I’m not sure either. I just remember Brackett speaking about Podkolzin often and enthusiastically after the draft. So it seems as if he pushed for the pick. No idea who was on the other side 🤷‍♂️

I was given no hints or details (which is probably a good thing) but the guy who told me wasn't given details either lol(he just started works in the WHL 2 years ago so not sure how even found out). Like Don said, it's hard to even guess who was against the pick and which front office/scout guys got into it.
