Just another Gunnarsson. I don't like the picks with almost no upside. - manvanfan

I think the point is depth, not regular roster spots. I do think they have a good mix of players who are able to play multiple positions. That's good, but it's not depth. For me, it's about replacing roster players that can't play. So what do we have?
At centre you have lots of players who could sub-in. But any serious missed time and we have (after Sutter) Beagle, Motte, Graovac...
At LW you got Goldy, Sven, Motte (again)... RW MacEwen, Bailey? Defence Sautner, Benn.
IMO, it's not anything you can brag about. Next year will be better but right now it ain't. - bloatedmosquito
Comets have 4 players in the top 17 in scoring and are in first place in their division with the top scoring team . You definition of Depth must be really really really high
I suggest you check other teams depth. |

Ken Holland pulled strings with JB to get Young Stars back in Penticton. Nice. |

Carson Focht. About time they get a centre prospect down there. |

I'd pencil Miller in at Centre depth. Maybe Lind for RW or Centre. But this is pretty bang on. - Load Management
I don't want to confuse "future" with "depth". Depth is something you can fall back on at this very moment. Young players with promise is great for future seasons but does little to help now.
I agree with you 100% about Miller and other players on roster who can switch in and out of different positions. Bravo to JB for targeting that skill. Just want to see less Sautner's and Sven's as players who will fill in if things go sideways. |

I took this as NHL ready depth. We're still finding out if any of these kids are good enough to sustain what they are doing in the AHL up in the NHL. Can they replace top six minutes? |

When someone has gone down someone has stepped in. Every team has that issue . No different than when Hedman or Mark Andre Fluery

That's what I thought he meant, as well.
Only one way to find out if some of these kids are ready, game action whenever they get called up. |

It's a blurry line between the two because call ups on injury are supposed to be for developing players.
The NHL depth can be looked at as you outlined who in the roster can step up.
Canuck example is Leivo and Ferland two utilized top 6 forwards go down and LE and JV are deployed in those roles and flourishing. |

I think Gaudette is a great example of quality depth. Someone who can step in and steal a spot.
Is Benn being switched out for Fatty considered depth? Or is Benn just not as good as advertised and got displaced by a rookie? I hope Fatty ain't another Hutton 2.0

Sure but LE and JV were expected to have regular roster spots. Both were to be more than just 9 min 3rd or 4th liners. |
