Barzal needs to stop turning the puck over.. it's become a problem. Needs to make the high % smart play once in a while.
- niteislander

Let's not go blaming Barzal. It's the others on the ice's fault.

@AGrossNewsday
#Isles Barry Trotz talked a lot this morning about teams needing those "big-moment guys." He was asked if his team has enough: "I don’t know. We’ll find out. I did last year and there’s not much change so I would say yes."

Sorry Barry I would say No.

- ses111

Funny how Barry is calling on his 1st and 2nd lines to step it up and the HB coach's do nothing but female dog about the 3rd and 4th line

He's trying hard and the others suck.

Mean while the 3rd and 4th lines seem to play that simple game and don't turn the puck over and get it in deep or out with out diddle (frank)ing with the puck trying drop passes and forcing stupid plays. This can be blamed on the first 2 lines in whole and certainly screams Barzal's tendency's lately. Both lines need to play north south and get the puck towards the net. Shoot when the opportunity is there!

Just my opinion of course.

Nice blog BTW Ben!

Feel free to keep poking the bear!

Kuzy likes to party so what? He deserved to let loose after leading the Stanley Cup playoffs in points (12G, 20A in 24 GP). Was it a poor decision? yea probably lol

I didn’t even bring up him liking to do blow. I’m just pointing out his goal celebration is ridiculously cringe worthy and that kind of nonsense should be reserved for football. Just my opinion.

Hey now. That’s not really true they’ve been blasted more it’s just our third line has sucked for 12 years.

I get it, however I honestly think the 1st and 2nd lines in total need to take the responsibility of the last 10 games. The 3rd and 4t lines have been chipping in some goals here and there and really keeping up their end of the game plan. Can they be better of course there's room for improvement but the 1st and 2nd line need to pick it up. The teams best players need to step it up.

Let me add the PK has been pretty good and the PP an abortion. Most of the 3 and 4th line players kill penalties and the 1st and 2nd line are on the PP's.

Thats my take on it I K.

Ironically, given who's asking, it stood for Upstate Isles Fan

I used that name on old boards ages ago, then noticed a couple of other "upstates" floating around those boards, and it just evolved into this by the time I got here.

I don’t disagree and I don’t think anyone else does not really sure what the debate is?😂

Not me. I'm on the entire forward group. No passes for anyone. The 3rd and 4th line can help but the offense needs to come mostly from the first two lines. The 3rd and forth lines are easier in terms of making changes. It's a lot harder making changes to top 6 players. Easy to call up Otto or Bellows for the 3rd line than trading for a top 6 player.

No debate, I don't think there can be.

Just the constant belly aching about the 3rd and 4th line players on here seems to mask the real issue of the 1st and 2nd line being held accountable and really iOS the reason we are in this funk.

Bailey and Eberle get a ton of heat and even Lee has been getting it. Barzal has to clean up the turnovers no question. Barzal will get more of a pass due to his skill level and many feel the Isles have not surrounded Barzal with a comparable player.

No real issues with the 3rd and 4th lines. The first and 2nd lines should take their heads out of their asses and play the simpler game. Maybe they should watch the 3rd and 4th lines and take note to keep it simple stupid!
May pay off vs turn overs which give the other quicker team like the Rangers odd man rushes.

Again just my opinion.

If you had another Barzal on that line they both would do a dance around the outside with the puck shift after shift without a shot

As far as players to play with, Lee and Ebs are both proven NHL players and scorers in they careers. Thats just a cop out which doesn't hold water with me. Lets turn this around, maybe the problem is Barzal?

Don't know but they need to get out of the funk they are in as a unit and step up their game.

Harder for the first two lines to just play the simple game all the time. They need to push the play more and take more chances than 3rd and 4th lines which are not expected to drive the offense. All I can tell you is many have been crying out for better talent in the top 6 so to me they are not getting much of a pass.

I mean another player that can keep with Barzal's speed and has a shooting first mentality. That is not Lee for sure and Eberle does not have the consistency and he likes to pass as well. I do not think the team is good enough in the top 6. The mix has been off with the top 6 for a number of years with this team. Why does the PP still struggle even without Gomez? Not enough shooters.

They did fine last year and the beginning of this year with this top 6. Again its a cop out. Ebs is a shooter and Lee is an animal in the corners and in front. All elements for a line are covered they just need to start playing Islanders hockey. Again they scored just fine with JT as their center, maybe it is Barzal?

As far as shooting. They all have opportunities to shoot but don't. Thats about confidence imho and right now they are looking for the perfect pass instead of getting the puck to the net.
They are in a funk right now and the best way to get out of it is play your north south game and keep it simple.

If we only had a Point man that can shoot 105 MPH and actually shoot it on the PP then hit the net and or get the puck threw to the net.

The problem with not shooting has gone on for years. It's not a one time thing that just popped up this year. The offense was not fine against the Canes or against Tampa back in the day. So far the core of this roster has shown they cannot do better than winning one round. Hopefully that changes this year. I think it's a mistake just like with Garth thinking this team has enough talent to win.
