Well coached team with the farm system that plays the same way as the big club, and pieces fit well after being brought up. Also helps, that both goalies play relatively well.

Hopefully the Flyers start skating at the 1st puck drop, instead of puck watching? The Pens seem to get sloppy and take stupid penalties when teams get physical with them. Hopefully the Flyers keep hitting the Pens and take away some time and space before the Pens offense gets going?

I don’t mean to make light of an injury but it’s good to see Farabee move up.

Agree, why they signed Hayes to get better matchups. If Coots and Hayes do their job it is a winnable game.

We’re a much deeper team with Giroux at center. It gives JvR an opportunity to move up in the line because he’s basically useless if he’s in the bottom six and not scoring. Hayes is fine on the second or third line because he can handle himself in a more defensive or checking role. I’m calling a victory with Farabee and JvR on the score sheet. Giroux with two assists.

Billy Coutu, a star player, received a lifetime NHL ban during the 1927 SC finals. He started a bench clearing brawl by assaulting one ref on the ice. He then chased and caught the other ref trying to escape in the corridor. He had a history of violence including allegedly ( no video evidence) using his stick to cut off Eddie Shore’s ear.

So there is a precedent, and I am sure that in today’s climate some feel Manning’s conduct is even more egregious and deserving.

Unfortunately that Pens team is doing something we are not.
