Considering how bad of a stinker the game was, I'm not so sure Sully dumping all that stuff on the media guys afterwards was smart. Kinda reminded me of a Therien post-game meltdown a few years back... hope it doesn't come back to bite him.
Just think his comments shoulda been more similar to the players all pretty much saying it was bad, it's over, and we'll rest and move on. Idk, understanding Sully's frustration, maybe it's better to keep it in the room. - Cousinskrid
This wasn’t even in the same realm of Therrien’s meltdown.
Not nearly as bad as MT in candor, but still it seemed very un-Sully-like... - Cousinskrid
I don't think it's as bad as you're making it out. He was just be honest about THIS GAME, he was disappointed about THIS GAME. Therrien not only commented on that specific game, but the whole season and character of the team.
Therrien ripped into their effort, character and abilities. Sully just stated the obvious and didn't dig too deep. He was brief and to the point about what they failed to do.

My guess is that he's worried the last 4 lackluster effort games is becoming a trend so he wants to light a fire under them. Of course, they can't do anything about it for a week and a half, but the next 5 games against top tier teams should tell us something. Who knows, maybe they'll have a new teammate who will be trying to impress by then.
Honestly, I had forgotten that Therrien is the Flyers coach. It seems kind of funny that he is.

Yeah... Sully wasn't overly dramatic. The players basically mentioned the same issues.

JJ and Bjug for Suter will not change the Pens salary structure for next season one bit.
I'm saying find that production with our trash with this trade. The alternative is to give up quality assets (high picks, good prospects, good roster players) for that production.
Doubtful anyone is giving a third for Galch, besides, who cares about a third who is unlikely to help in the next 3-5 years? And swapping for another struggling winger means another bottom six winger, which the Pens already have too many of those. Since the end of last season we have lost Kessel and Guentzel. We need at least a bona fide, not struggling, top 6 winger or what's the point?
The only value Galch has is that he has an expiring contract that could be sent to a team that is not actually interested in him but rather to balance out a trade. BUF was about the last team who could have used him and they are about out of it. - Hockey66
Basically picks and very far away prospects/older players on crap contracts aren't helping this team. So why trade for it.

He's an assistant but it's still funny. Defense is trying to be soffes defense in the league lol

Idk I'm not trying to get on you I just am not seeing the value. Now it probably would never happen but IF they would retain half on Suter I'd entertain it depending on what was going back. - 668710
Dont like loading up geno , rust and sid for a whole period. Nothing else can happen at all for the other shifts until they come back. They are getting chances and it prob could be tied...but we havent needed to do this ALL year to comeback in games...injuries or not. - taleisyreXIII
There just weren't a lot of dangerous weapons in the line up. It wasn't clicking the same with McCann as it did with Kahun on Malkin's line, and nobody on Sid's line did much. Might as well try it in that situation.
Blueger line were the only ones willing to dump it behind the defense, which they needed to do more with how aggressive Philly was at the blue line.
So 35 points for a defenseman is trash? 19 goals and 31 points for a LW is trash? Wow.
At this point in their careers, they are still 1st line players. I'm saying the length of "those contracts" will largely be irrelevant after the Crosby/Malkin window. As for their current rate, you are not going to find that kind of production for $7.5M by only giving up your own expensive trash. - Hockey66
Parise and Suter are still good, and that should give us hope for our guys still being good in a few years. So we shouldn't hamstring them at that point with Suter and Parise's contracts as they'll decline years before Sid and Malkin do.

They're good...but good enough for their cap hits/lengths PLUS the assets required to obtain them is a different matter.

In what world was this a Therrien take? Hahaha. It was an honest take on the game.

It was a little out of character for Sully I thought, and how he typically handles the post game. And in this particular instance, I thought of MT maybe only because he happened to be on the other bench is all. I did say 'kinda', which usually leaves a lot of room for interpretation. Not here though, apparently, LOL.
Again, it’s hard to be mad at any loss at this point IMO. Tough recent schedule, injuries, etc... it will catch up at times. - Rinosaur
Looking at the standings we’re still very much in striking distance of the Caps. I can’t remember the last time we were in serious striking distance of the conference lead this late into the season.

Its been a very long time, usually we teeter in a wildcard spot until after the allstar break.
