I posted a bunch of stuff yesterday, the Defense at this point is getting pointed at, but its not all the Defense either.

the Leafs give up HD chances yes, but its not like they are bottom of the League, maybe more in t he middle. But the offense they generate should offset it for the most part. But Freddy is sinking them now.
We dont need him to be 2014 carey price, just normal Fred Andersen and the Leafs will win a lot more than lose.
Oh and also remove the Leafs best overall D in Muzzin, that will hurt - senstroll

Freddie has faced the 3rd most shots this season. Don't you think him being overworked might attribute to these dips? Maybe acquiring defense that limits shots would help Freddie to not have bad months. |

Tell that to the players poll.
Players still consider Price to be the best.
But what do they know right?
And Theodore deserves a little more recognition than he's gotten from the Habs.... for a few years he was dominant and played over 600 games in the NHL.... Something like 8th on the team for wins?
I've seen worse. |

If Price is the best, goaltending has regressed to 80’s levels of bad. |

The problem is the offense doesnt offset the HD chances the leafs give up for the most part
The leafs have to play better team D. Its that simple....maybe help freddy out once in a while.
Freddy needs to be better than hes been the past 6 games. |

I hate the damn all star game. I'd rather just have the regular slate of games. Plus it's just a slap in the face of hockey fans that they can take a break in the schedule for this bullpoop, but can't for the Olympics. I get the Olympic Committee is brutal to work with and the other issues surrounding it (more time, insurance, risk of injury), but come on. |

Real sports are much preferable to fake sports.
I used to love the skills comp when I was a kid though. Ovie ruined it with his cowboy hat elton john double stick shootout attempt instead of actually showing off skills tho... |

I used to enjoy the skills competition when I was younger as well. Now, I'll tune in, but not so much. |

The all star game and skills comp are lame. Always have been.
If you can burn a week for this garbage, whats another week to actually be a part of something great like the olympics.

I dont know. But if thats the case, would it be more important to get a "backup" who you can count on?
Again, the Leafs dont give up a lot more shots than other teams, and they are in the Positive for/against per game.
I posted the info yesterday and not going to dig it up again, but in he 26 games Keefe has coached the HD chances are not as bad as is being talked about every day. Leafs are not a bottom team in that regard.
High danger corsi agaisnt
Leafs 236 / 26 games
TampsBay 230 / 30 games
Leafs are 16th in the League over that span, but 6th in HDCF%
i think getting Muzzin back and adding 1 more D will help though, and a better backup who can take more starts |

I think it's more fun when the players try in their respective categories.
Unless the all-star game is for the benefit of the players and not the fans. In which case I stand corrected. |

They should just focus on defense, the offense will come during the game and they will get their opportunities, but defense should be their 1st priority. The would probably win most games lol |

especially if your goalie is letting in softies like the Chi game
Over the Keefe span HDCF
TB - 296-222
Leafs 263-236
Freddy has an elite Nov and I think I saw a stat that he was below .900 every other month
not good enough |

They've certainly showed that they can turn the offense on when required if they're down a goal or two in the 3rd. Agreed that they should probably do their best to make sure that they're down by a goal or two at most in the 3rd. |

As an adult, I completely agree with you.
But as a kid, I loved the allstar game.
Loved the skills competition mostly. Seeing Ray Bourque hit 4 targets in 4 shots, Al Mcinnis and Al Iafrate shoot bombs.
Watching Roy, Brodeur, Hasek make big saves on Lemieux, Gretzky and others..... Tony Amonte skate like the wind.... I loved it. It was great.
The all-star game is for kids. I don't really care for it. But my son will be thrilled I'm sure.
And it will help create the next generation of fans again. |

Take a look at the 5 teams who let in the most shots.
Now check their goalie stats.
The answer is no. It does not.
The quality of shots effect a goalie though. |

Not all HD chances are the same though, I can understand just looking at the stats if you can’t watch the games.
Even the wrap around, MM chases behind the net and Toews just walks out the other side
Then a Toews breakaway
Then another 2 on 1 that ends in a breakaway
Then another cross ice pass - gets by both our d to a another wide open guy ( luckily bats it out of the air and in )
IMO take care of our end and Freddie’s stats will be better
I’m out for the day ( I know I just keep repeating ) sorry |

Freddy has been bad other than one month...
There’s no hiding it..if he was average this season the Leafs would be in a much better spot.
The defence(before the injuries) are playing like we expected them to. Middle of the pack in HDSC.
Freddy is playing below average hockey and he’s a lot better than that.
