I don't think the team is ready to trade futures for the "present". This team is more than a Liljegren trade away from winning a cup.

^ how in the (frank) does this guy not have an ignore button. Jesus Christ, you just can't leave anything be.

If you could ignore specific posters, I'm not sure there would be much conversations left around these part.

Andersen has had a mediocre two weeks playing behinds a mediocre d that is now depleted even more.

The team did not ad defensive depth the offseason.

- aminnes

Exactly.
Mediocre to bad goaltending behind mediocre to bad D.....is a bad combo.
Our D need freddy to stand on his head most nights. Not happening right now.

Brag and predict when appropriate there Roger - and now is not the time when Leafs lost 5 of 6 going into the break against some mediocre teams. Pettersson is not signed because he still has this year and next on his entry level deal. Vancouver has some lousy contracts but Miller is actually looking pretty good and unlike the Leafs, the Nucks are currently in a playoff spot. At least be objective enough to realize that Pettersson drafted fifth overall was probably the best player selected in his draft year - only one close is probably Makar. Give credit where it is due.
- winsix

My point was why spend so much cap on overpriced UFAs before Pettersen needs to be signed.

If Babrovsky gets his crap together Florida is a force. Sitting in a playoff spot with one of the worst tending in the league - for the whole year so far.

Leafs are in tough.

Panthers haven't won a playoff series in 23 years.

Oh sorry that only works with the Leafs...

Legit contenders win games even when their goalie is having a bad game sometimes. Not so with the Leafs. I thought wildcard, now I'm not even convinced of that. And Dubas is 100% at fault.

They have more pts in less games than the leafs.

And a far, far worse roster.

We are talking about this year. The Panthers are a better team clearly. And once again, if Babrovsky gets going they are surely better than TO.

The Leafs did not improve this offseason. Comp within the div did.

I agree, Johnsson's trade value down significantly with his raise in salary and the puny production.
- winsix

his injury will do that to a guy's production on the ice

Looking like they absolutely did.

And Freddy stinks so maybe if he plays better we'll win more?

110 point pace with poopty goaltending since the coaching change

Let's praise Florida when they actually do something. If only Dubas improved the Leafs like giving a 32 year-old goaltender 10 million per for 7 years that is playing etrrible!

I’d rather trade Dermott than Liljegren for an upgrade. Sandin is ready and would slot into Dermott’s spot on the 3rd pair.

People are so melodramatic over wins and losses. 16-7-3 since that horrific coach was fired.

Dubas should have "Improved" like Florida GM did. How would everyone feel about a Bobrovsky signing by Dubas right now?

People went nuts over Willy making 6.9 per and being 22 years-old.

True. They came out of the gate gangbusters and have gone 1-5 over their last six. Is that just an excitement over new coach thing or something more?

Either way, they still haven't improved their defensive play. Kudos to Keefe for getting the offence going though.

It is. Horrific goaltending. All defensive stats are improved. Goaltending has regressed. You are wrong in stating D is not better.

I think every hockey fan on earth was well aware that being reliant on comebacks and scoring more goals than the other guys was not a strategy that was going to be sustainable during that stretch.

Absolutely.

I believe this team was good enough last year to get to the finals. This year they are better.

Talking about dramatic, what would you think of a guy repeating himself every day for months?

Asking for a friend.

What about odd man rushes per game? What about breakaways per game? Everyone was all good while Freddy was making saves on these all year and said this team is going all the way, now 3-4 breakaways a game and 15 odd man rushes are going in and the sole reason they won't win the cup is Freddy? SMH. These problems were easy to see months ago.
