I agree with you! I say try to trade Monahan. He aint never going to be a #1 center for us - hotshotbeer
Ducks, Yotes, Jackets, Wild, Habs, Preds, Devils, Senators.
You know what this list of teams has in common? Each and every one of them would likely (if not certainly) see Monahan as an upgrade on their #1 center.
Be careful what you wish for. You just might get it. |

Not only that but $6.4 is a pretty reasonable cap hit for a guy who is bottoming out as a 60~ point player. |

Too many years have passed to believe this group has a future imo. - Nighthawk
Um, what? Outside of Gio, the main pieces of the team are all under 26. They've got at least another 5 years before it's time to start thinking about a rebuild.
The Canucks aren't any younger. Is there window gone? Just because they had success before they were 25 doesn't mean they're done. |

I simply observe the Flames don’t gain traction as seasons pass. Can they change that pattern of course they can. I suggested a retool not a rebuild. I asked if time to move on from Tree. Imo the prospect pool isn’t all that good. How much leash does he have?
The Canucks are both young and old lol |

I see we're back on the trade JG and Monahan train. Also seeing some people say trade Hanifin. I love this fan base. |

They won the West last year and are going to win their division again.

Charlie Coyle for Backland. And maybe flames take Backes on as well for a pick (with bruins keeping some salary). Backes could be useful come playoff time to get some more experience in the room when needed.
bruins need some relief right away, and a D, so might have to change Backland to Brodie (but hate to do that into playoffs).
Simmonds would be just to slow.
JG/Money/CC
MT/Linds/Bread
wouldn't be to shabby, Coyle could slide into centre as needed as well
EDIT: Dubes will be better then backs next year. |

You clowns calling for a rebuild should cheer for someone else this team has a amazing talented core locked up !! A pice or two makes them contenders for next 3-5 years valimaki wins a noris in the next 3-4 years of stays health ! Andersson is a steel and a top 4 !! Hanifin is a beast at what we lol goo is a boss to lead Hamonic takes a discount to stay this team has all the pieces !! Just need a tweak or two and yes I think lindholm is number 1 Center with money hands #2 !! This team is good and will be for years with current pieces like I said a tweak here and there ! |

Just watched the Wild play. We need to take a shot at Eric Staal + any one of those right wingers. We need a skilled gritty player and Staal would be a great fit.

The fact that they've played as poorly as they have and are still a point out shows that they're the class of the division.
Everyone besides Lindholm is having a pretty disappointing season so far. Someone's bound to go on a hot streak.

So the question is what do you do if you are Tre?
Best case scenario for this year.
Tre goes out and gets a top 6 RW, a bottom 6 winger, and a 5-6 dman that can clear the front of the net. A bunch of players find their scoring touch and the top players find a way to score when things get tough. Rittich plays like he did against Toronto.
Flames go on a long run and get a cup.
Long term effects.....We lose one (or both) of Brodie and or Hamonic for nothing, Rittich gets a lot more money. We lose picks and prospects for the additions.
Worst case scenario for this year.
Tre does the same at TDL, Flames just miss playoffs or get bumped in the first round. We lose one or both of Brodie or Hamonic for nothing. No high end picks. Not much in the pipeline.
Tre is in a tough spot. I will say in my opinion this team does not have what it takes to make a deep run.

Agree tough call for Tree.
He will likely wait a few weeks to assess where were at in the standings and understand what buy/sell pricing is.
Every source indicates 2020 is the deepest draft sine 2015 and if that's the case I sure hope he doesn't trade our 1st.
The path to sustainability in the cap world demands you have a good stable of young affordable players in your system! |

I mostly agree with this. Biggest bummers has been the inconsistent play of Gio (offensively), Johnny and secondary scoring (especially bottom two lines). People pick on Mony, but I think he's bringing more to the table now than he ever has - in terms of a complete game. I absolutely love Lindy - what a great trade. If Talbot continues to play well he will walk at the end of the season too. Why would he stay behind Rittich for another year? |

If we're pursuing a trade with Minny then we should looking at Dumba as well. Calgary boy plays with an edge has great offencesive skill. Hanifan for Dumba. |

Like Dumba, but wouldn't deal Hanifin for him - almost the exact same offensive production, and I think there's tradeoffs to both guys. Think Hanifin has better wheels, Dumba is little more physical.
If it was Brodie+, or Hammer+ (prospects in either case), I'd be all over it. Cost certainty for a couple of years at a reasonable(ish) cap hit and a right shot guy. He's exactly the type of player that Tre should be pursuing. |

Maybe Minnesota says no....
Hanifan 4 x 4.95 after this year, Dumba 3 x 6 million.
Hannifan is very durable and gives you 20 plus minutes a night and 82 games/year. |

great.
Dumba's 60 games are more impactful than Noah's 82. |
