Galchenyuk and McCann for Sheary, ERod and a 4th (becomes a 2nd if Gally re-signs)

Vesey to Edmonton for Puljujarvi. Add McCabe for Russell if they need to make the cap work.

Sure.

i don't think Puljujarvi can be moved, or brought to the NHL though.

ride the season out

clear out space
Very likely to happen

then sign hopkins and trade for puljujarvi in the summer
If they legalize Tampering, then ok, Hopkins has 1 year left.
At what cost for JP, he isn't available for cheap

Is Bjugstad a better option than ERod today?

- thatsapickle

Based on this year and last year, no, not really. Especially at double the cap hit.

He can be moved, just can't play this season. Although not sure if he could play in Rochester or not.

I see the logic in your trades, I do.
I've been told no one wants our trash, and would consider Sheary, Erod trash and Vesey close (although working g his way out of a slow start)...therefore I'm not sure any playoff team would really be looking for them...maybe, IDK.

Who, amongst these 3, would you trade the unconditional 2020 1st round pick for?

Kyle Connor
Jake Guentzal
Brayden Point

Dont forget to consider age, position and contract.

Sheary had some semblance of success in Pitt. Maybe they would take him back.

Vesey is a solid PKer with pretty consistent numbers on the Rangers, and coming out of the funk could help him get moved.

Connor or Point for sure.

Guentzal is tough to say just because he generally has good players around him, but this year he came into his own without 87 and 71 for a stretch.

I’d get Streit-to-the-Point.

Ek says a third of the league is trying to make trades. Sabres are one of those teams

So most believe Sabres need a 2C, I'm curious to know what "standards" you would need to see in such a player to be reasonably happy if the Sabres traded for him/her?

Goals/Assists/Pts? Or PPG:
Primarily a Goal Scorer or a Playmaker?:
Minimum Shooting %:
Minimum Corsi For %:
Maximum OZ Starts %:
Minimum Faceoff Win %:
Other:

Also, granted it has only about 30 games for Asplund, but do you think his game grows enough to be an effective 3C?

I would like a playmaking center with a shooting percentage between 6-9%.
Faceoffs near 50%.
Closer to 25 than 30.

I think if Asplund keeps progressing he could be a great middle 6 center. Hopefully sound on the dot to handle D-zone draws, and contributes 30ish points.

The Pittsburgh trade is based on a few things. Sheary won two Cups there, Galchenyuk is a UFA and not fitting in there, McCann has done well, but his production/ ice time should decrease with Sid back and he is 1 of 9 RFAs just counting the guys on the big club that they need to resign. Lastly, they should owe us one for taking a cap dump last time and they have no 2nd this year.

On Vesey, Edmonton pretty much has no secondary scoring and Vesey has been playing better. JP is not going to help them get to the playoffs this year and likely won't play for them again. Adding McCabe for Russell gives them a younger dman going forward and Russell would be a good Vet for Buffalo. With Bogo gone it leaves us with Miller as the oldest dman and Risto the most experienced. Russell brings in a defensive dman to help the young guys. He's still top 20 in blocking shots where our highest rated shot blocker ranks 80th.
