Here's the original quote I responded to:
"He did all that on a team that was loaded with depth"
4 good forwards is not "loaded with depth" imo. We have 4 good forwards this year and no one would accuse the sabres of being loaded with depth - jcragcrumple
wait wait wait
they had 3 70 point forwards weve had 1 (Jack) since we had jack
im by no means saying they are a good team but ill take that depth over anywhere we have had in this drought.
not to mention yandel had 50 points ...... whens the last 50 point d man we had?
Like i said im by no means saying that panthers team is great but they are better than what we have had in almost a decade. |

I dont want Bjustad simply based on contract..... I feel with all this cap space Botts has no more crutches.
In the grand scheme how much "better" is he than Larsson if at all even money
but Id take Larson at whatever ext he would get vs 4 mill of Bjug 1 more year |

No. No it's not at all.
Skinner, Bjugstad and Mojo is worse than Skinner, Mojo and Sobotka.
If they're bringing in Bjugstad to play 2C, may as well start looking at next year's draft to see who we can get in the top 10. |

Bjugstadt at your 2nd center spot maybe gets you 6 more points in the stands. Still not anywhere close. Like Taco said, they need to think bigger, much bigger. - buffalofan19
Sweet, I hope he does aim higher. But doing nothing is much worse than Bjugstadt or Bonino |

They missed the playoffs with 96 points that year. We haven't had 96 points since '10-'11. They were pretty good. Of course they had no depth apparently. It was all because of 3 players and Bjugstad. |

From the Pens blog:
"The team is chugging along without Bjugstad and he isn’t going to fill a need they are currently lacking in my opinion."
Figure out how to get him - jcragcrumple
You've been on this train for awhile, but I don't see the allure.
If Namestnikov and fabbri were voted down, surely he doesn't move the needle much. |

4 players and him.
Look at the forward totals below him. Next guy up is 29 points for Jamie McGinn. That should sound familiar because that's pretty close to this team
Eichel
Reinhart
Olofsson
Skinner
Mojo (Bjugstad)
Then our version of Jamie McGinn - whoever gets 29 points |

Sabres forward Michael Frolik - widely known as one of the hardest working players off the ice. While spending his bye week in Florida with his family, he’s rented ice and putting himself thru morning drills and bag skates. https://t.co/vT5WA7MTFL |

There's no need to haul in the Fitz debate for this. But 2nd line centers can be had if you're not offering 4th round picks for them.
Step up the god damn standards. (frank). I'm so sick of settling for hot dumpster juice and getting on this (frank)ing board talking about oh cool we can pair that rotting pumpkin with Jack or Dahlin and we'll be (frank)ing GREAT
Just get an actually good player. For (frank)ing once. Skinner? Awesome. Jokiharju? Awesome. Keep doing those things. Stop trading trash for trash. - TheSabresTaco
None were traded today. None are available.

Eichel will have more than Barkov's 78 - maybe 20 points more
Reinhart wont get to Trochek's 75 but could hit 70
Olofsson was on pace to top 65, maybe 70 - obviously not going to happen now
Skinner wouldnt have gotten close to 60 because he doesn't have a center - perhaps a 49 point center who would likely would be 5th in scoring like Mojo, but who could play the position better
If they can do better, sweet, I'm all for it. I'll take good instead of nothing |

The ability to score 50, but has never scored 50 and will be 28 to start next season. Faceoffs under 50%. Hit 20 goals once 5 years ago. Had over 20a and 30a once each.
This would be another Frolik trade. May help a little, but money and assets would be better used elsewhere. At least Frolik helps the PK. Not sure Bjugstad would improve anything. Especially at $4.1m for another year.
Before the season I mentioned trading for Rust and not many wanted him. 21g 22a in 35 games this year would have been a nice add. - adambuffalo
He plays with Malkin, we don't have a Malkin.
He's getting about 25% more playing time.
He wasn't available because he wasn't traded.
He would have cost too much.
How would Botts have known he would bust out this season. |

I would much rather think bigger than Bjugstad, but at this point, what is truly available.
The point of the Bjugstad conversation was that the Pitt blog said he doesn't have a spot.
He may not have a spot here, and that's fine. He is, however, a player that can fit a need we have. He may not be ideal, but if Botts thinks it makes us better, then make the deal. |

We are going to have to have someone play over their "skill level." Having an additional Middle 6 center to create additional scoring opportunities isn't the end of the world.
Is Bjugstad a better option than ERod today? |

No, he's hurt. But, on the bright side... very little chance of being a minus +/- player while injured. |
