Because the top teams' point totals and GP would have them as WC seeds in either Eastern Conference division, despite the fact that they have 3 doormats to pad their point totals against 5 times a year. Atlantic has doormats as well but also has top end contenders at the top, and that doesn't even include the "best team ever assembled in the cap era."

Thanks for your point of view, what I see is that there are 3 teams that are better than most of the other Eastern Conference teams...Wash, Bos, Pitt, I could even toss TB in there. So lets say 2 from each division Metro and Atlantic. And they get to walk all over Ott, Det, NYR and NJ

There is only one team that is better than most in the Western Conference, StL. Then there are 9 teams that are separated by 6 points, now that is parity.

But I can't necessarily label pacific as as the worst without a doubt, especially at 48-50 games into the season.Boston has 28 wins, but 12 loser points, look at the win loss columns and I think it paints a better understanding.

Bettman wanted parity around the league and I think he has it this year.

I think the Leafs deserve to rank with Boston and Tampa. The Leafs, despite injuries to key players and a coaching change, are only five points out of fifth overall, three points out of third.

Since they fired their coach, they were 1st in the NHL for a 23 game period, then Muzzin got injured. Since then, they are still the fifth best team in the league, despite 21st ranked goaltending. (And they're ahead of Boston since the firing).

All things considered, a healthy, properly coached Leafs team getting even league average goaltending looks like the best team in hockey.

It's working out great. What team is going to do anything more than tread water when their .940 goalie goes down?

You're forgetting about the best team ever assembled in the cap era.

I don't think anyone wants to play Carolina.

Absolutely. But the top teams in that division have good inter-conference records as well.

Carolina is my Cup pick.
