End of the day doesn't really matter if he walks or not. We sign Muzzin, and let Ceci and Barrie go and spend that money to shore up and add to the defence we have which at that point isnt that bad...
Reilly, Muzzin, Holl, Dermott, Sandin.... I mean pretty decent there. Can use a real big name there but take those two out and sit Marincrap in the press box all the time.
We're in what? Year 4? We said 5 year plan here and we were waaaaay ahead of things in year 2 and 3 so a minor setback is NOT the end of the world here. Just have to be patient and work through things.
I think the biggest thing has been developed players in the lineup is 13? I mean holy crap. A lot better than going Wendal Clark and then Luke Schenn who we rushed and not really developing much else in house at all. - Roadrunner75

I joked about him sucking last night, but his down year could benefit the Leafs - buy low. 30+ points, physical, cannon for a shot.
He’s the right type of player and age that I would be okay with trading Liljegren.
Kapanen + Ceci + Liljegren + 4th for Dumba and Stalock
Make it a 2nd if they retain salary on Dumba. - Steven_Seagull
He was playing at close to a top pair level before this year.
But yep he would fit this style of play but is also physical.
Kap is the main piece then I’d give them a prospect not named Sandin as well as long as Stalok is in it.
Then the Wild could flip Ceci for a mid round pick at the TDL.
Get it done Dubas

Thanks
Honestly I can see Dumba working. Ceci is a movable salary given it is this year and done so Minnesota can trade Dumba for Ceci + and let him go end of the season. It is doable to add him.
Plus Reilly is out till March at the earliest. LTIR him opens up his salary there too.
I think the trade assets that we have are good enough to bring in another defence like Dumba or even perhaps one from Anaheim, or Dillon in SJ, and a backup should not cost that much really. I would love Georgiev in NYR but he is looking more like a starter and thinking a few teams are going to have some serious interest.
Toronto is not out of things at all and I think honestly who cares what spot you make it into the playoffs. LA won a cup squeaking into the playoffs after all. Top seeds often get knocked out. |

All good but I see Minny needing a top 2C. Wingers don’t fetch top D. Besides their cap mess of big contracts for old guys they are in a poop position.
Run with Ceci lose Marincin period. |

I don't see Dubas letting Barrie walk for nothing, his salary is hugely marketable at a premium position for the TDL. - joel878
If we’re in ( I suspect we will be or close ) not a chance he gets traded.

Yeah it may or may not happen there but never know. Plus as said you have Anaheim and SJ as well as possibles and plenty of options.
One thing everyone likes to harp on is cap hell but look at the actual salaries going out and all, and the fact we are actually for a change using our development system and solid young players and I dont think we are in a bad spot at all.
Other thing is dont under-estimate a team getting young wingers and players. Wild need to get younger and fast so might be something to start doing and let the older vets play up the middle too. |

I can’t see a team trying to win the cup trading for Ceci, he’ll be going to a team folding for this year IMO ( if he gets traded ) |

If Florida is for real it’ll come down to a WC spot. Not betting on them but Coach Q has the talent there to get it done.
Canes Philly are pushing hard. CBJ gets no respect & Torts gets max effort from them.
Leafs gotta sort out team D to separate from these teams. |

He’s a legit 3rd pairing D.
Players like him get dealt for draft picks every year. Just because he’s on Toronto it doesn’t mean he’s not valuable |

2 teams to trade with for sure. DW seems to not realize a rebuild is needed. Ducks could be in a retool mode with top prospects in their system already. The LAK stand out but Martinez is overrated but is a solid add at the right price.

They are shopping Dumba because he hasn’t been working out this year and they are sellers.
Kapanen is very valuable. They aren’t getting a 1 for 1.
It’s a package. |

So what team can use him at his contract?
Cap problems abound across the league. |

Minnesota isn’t going for it. They could retain 50% of his salary and get back at least a 3rd. |

I've given up on finding out what Leafs' deadline cap is
Is it 7.5M like CapFriendly says, or has Duubass' wheeling and dealing turned it into something else...?
Anyone actually knows? |

To the right team Kap is but imo that’s not Minny. |

They need youth and speed. Kapanen provides both. |

Muzzin, Rielly, Mikheyev, and Moore are on LTIR. I have no clue what the actual deadline cap would be once Muzzin and Moore are back. In Pridham We Trust |

Depends on when guys are coming off LTIR really, otherwise could it be tight, yes but then package deals and retained salary come into play there too so not really a cut and dried they are great or they are screwed. |

If he can trade out cap sure but there is many teams that would luv to do that. Offseason is the time he can try. |
