He could have let in 3 goals on 3 shots. It's the quality of shots and whether he had a chance. He had nothing to do with the loss last night. He did however, suck balls in game seven last year. The d was, and has been the number one problem as many of us knew long before the season started. Look at how many goals this team has let in and people thought they were a contender. Insanity.
When the Leafs play Boston in the first round and lose again, or they miss the dance altogether it will fall squarely on Dubas for not addressing this glaring and obvious to almost everybody need.
Now the same guys who said they were winning the cup this year are making trade proposals for stay at home d men. Everyone gets it now, you should too. - aminnes
Everyone else is also getting that Andersens play is a problem, you should to.
You're right, it is the quality of shots. He flubbed the first and then let in two softies. Team is immediately down 3-0 and play is reflecting as much. He let in a 5 hole wrap around goal ffs. NHL goalies who are doing their part don't give up a (frank)ing 5 hole wrap around goal.
Facing more shots and odd man chances does not make an excuse to not stop the shots which should be stopped. It doesn't work like that.
He has a GAA pushing 4.00 and a SV% under .900 since November. Figure it out, there are no teams in the NHL who rely heavily on a starter, with numbers like that, who are a threat to win the cup. |

Last night when the announcers had that chart thing showing the shots that go five hole on Freddy is not a very good omen. It was stated that he allows by far the most goals of any goalie thru the five hole. Straight on stoppable shots are going in about half the time. He's gotta figure it out soon or were in for a bumpy ride.
I'm not putting all the blame on him just saying... |

Yes it's the shoddy defensive play and effort from the players in front of him that are making him give up beachball 5 hole goals every single (frank)ing game.
No, it's not entirely his fault. But he still has to make the saves that should be made.
He just doesn't seem right. I do believe it was the 4th goal that went blocker side off the post, he didn't even move... Because he had no idea his positioning was off and he had a gaping net on his blocker side. That's not like freddie... |

I'm not putting all the blame on Freddy but the numbers he has been turning lately are back up numbers and not starter ones. Yes the defense is not that great but some of the blame has to be put on him.

You can’t criticize Freddy or Hutch without someone telling you “it’s not all his fault” |

Having your top D out and goalie playing bad is going to get losses not wins.

oh boy.. now you've done it.
its going to be a veritable blizzard of snowflake freak outs in here ...
you dared to criticize Dubas.... how dare you.
team needed to improve defensively... so go acquire a defenseman who can't tell the difference between his goalie and the opposition. - seems like a sound plan
team "might have needed an improvement in the back-up goaltender situation"... I don't know for sure... 'cause I'm not a hockey guru... ... nope.. stick with the same guy
but how can you criticize the GM... I mean how dare you?
hopefully the temperature rises today and some of the flakes actually melt ...
and I forgot... how can you blame the players or GM.. its all the goalie's fault. |

Our team is not as good as we thought they were... - Hockey_Reverend
Pretty sure we were tearing it up not too long ago. We were bound to hit a bit of a rut somewhere, and with arguably our two best Dmen out it makes sense.
We still need help on D regardless. And at the All star break we're on pace for 95 points, so only slightly below the 100 mark we thought they'd be at by this point before the early-season disaster.
It's in Dubas' hands now. |

Bad goaltending and shoddy defence.
There’s no one over the other. It’s everyone’s fault.

Like I said last night. The Dubas-haters are ecstatic that the Leafs are losing. They should just cheer for another team if having a young GM upsets them this much. |

It has nothing to do with his age. It’s his philosophy and team construction...understand? And no one is happy with this garbage. We all want to win. |
