While Im no fan of people jumping all over others opinions just because they think know best or are simply d!cks.
I think January is too early to sell anything.
If come the TDL, the leafs out of the playoffs by more than 2- 3pts...then I could see unloading a player (non core members) or two for assets as an option. I just dont think Dubie will.
But as of today, its too early. Leafs could be come back after their break win 3 games and be back in the playoffs...or they come back win 3 games and be out of the playoffs by 1pt.
Lets see where they are in 3- 4 weeks. IMO.

its really dependent on Andersen, without him playing at least average they will be very hard pressed to make it. And thats the same for any team. The Jets have been awful but propped up by elite goalie.

Even Boston, who imo is not as good as the standings show. they have gotten great results from both goalies.

There's more than one issue. Team defense yes, five hole the size of the grand canyon on Freddie yes, backpasses to the point of frustration - leading to giveaways before a shot is taken. Aversion to taking a shot when in perfect position in the slot. Falling apart after a bad goal.

Pretty crazy how a good goaltender can turn you into an elite team from an average team by the eyeball analyst.

I like Fridge. Lebrun and Bobby Mac for their contacts within the game but they aren't these genius hockey gods because they know people that work in the NHL.

A team that is currently out of a playoff spot should contemplate trading an expiring asset at the deadline.

Unless we see a dramatic turn around on this team, they definitely should consider moving Barrie. Believing this team is a serious contender is pretty (frank)ing stupid... again, barring a huge turnaround in discipline, toughness, maturity and effort.

I have no idea what the trading Matthews question was about (stupid bird), but I will say this... Once he is in year 4 of this deal, unless you KNOW you are going to re-sign him, then you definitely take a hard look at trading him. Once he hits year 5, he has a NMC and anyone who just blindly believe he won't leave in free agency didn't pay enough attention to Tavares.

A reasonable post, the mitigating circumstances are that the Leafs do not have a first rounder, so the organizational incentive to make the playoffs is high. In addition, Barrie has played so poorly that he is not realistically worth a top pick nor a top prospect.
