Thing is we keep coming up with excuses. The excuse for losing in Florida was due to spending the day before in the Florida Sun and never showed up to play the day after.
We beat Jersey but had a 6-2 lead and nearly come unraveled at the end.
Only real good game we played this week was against the Flames. Still lost a close game so I don't have any real complaints about that one.
Lost against Chicago cause it was the day before an 8 day break so we're apparently distracted.
So if we get spanked by Nashville on our first game after the break is it because they're rusty because of the break? Too many excuses!

Bad pulls?

He's deserved those and a few more.

Fred has been complete and total poop since November. Was he fatigued a month into the season? Is the .895 SV% he's put up in those two months Keefe's fault to?

He's been poop, and he knows he's been poop. People need to stop making excuses for him.

I’ve never witnessed games with so many 2 on 1’s and breakaways in my life. Our style is awesome when it works, but when we bobble it or turn it over it’s an automatic grade A 2 on 1 or breakaway. We’ll win playing that way if we put 2 goalies in the net maybe.

He got beat several times outside the slot

Also by the lowest percentage shot in hockey(the wrap around)

Close your (frank)ing legs Freddy

They are missing their top 2 D. Freddy is the guy that needs to step up and he has been downright awful.

So it’s on the players and never the coach.

But when a goalie plays bad it’s on the coach...

Ok

- Santo_44

Keefe is a terrible spot having an echl backup goalie.

Yotes have at least 2 backups better than hutch. It's pathetic.

Ya know .. I don't even think it's the losses.. everyone loses..

To me it's been the inability or lack of self awareness to recognize playing the same way with top 2 D out and goalie going through a rough patch just won't cut it .. That's what is baffling..

- dozerD10

Exactly correct
...

Almost seems like the same malaise that happened under Babcock.. which would suggest it's the players..
Not suggesting that Babcock shouldn't have been dismissed.. but it would seem the team allows itself to rely completely on Andersen.. that's on the players.

Although I think I remember some discussion during the summer about improving the D and goaltending.. oh well just another season of thrashing .. a d who they going to blame at the end of the season.. Babcock?

Yeah they weren’t trying.

Totally.

Putting Matthews/Marner together hasn’t done (frank) all.

Giving Engval a top 9 role doesn’t help.

Giving Holl more opportunity? Yeah that didn’t help either.

They just weren’t trying. That’s the only explanation because nothing else changed in coaching styles.

Oh except Freddy. The coach (frank)ed him up bad and it’s all the coaches fault for his bad play. He’s trying.

Keefe following #Leafs loss: "Reality checks come. I thought that we were an immature team down in Florida, we were an immature team here today. We're not performing, we're not playing with any level of discipline or consistency."

Players aren't the peoblem.

Freddy is the peoblem cause he's not martin brodeur circa 2002

Babock caused us to have 1 win in the last 6.

Should have fired him 3 years ago.

Could and Can Freddie be better ... absolutely.. The injury thing ..yeah it happens .. but then I look at the Pens .. no 87 for 2 months, no Geuntzal .. and Rolling JFJ out there 20 minutes a night.. and think.. everyone has'em..

And then I think Leafs just need to be smarter and not turn every game into a track meet. and recognize it's ok to win 3-2 or 2-1 or God forbid a shutout..

It doesn't excuse Andersen's poor play.

He is the guy and he has been poop...In past years the Leafs have really been able to lean on Freddy. Not so much right now and it is hurting.

Cool.

The Leafs were fine with their forward injuries too. Both teams have scoring depth.

The problem here is the Leafs lost their two best players at their weakest position.

The team is not making adjustments, they need to figure it out. Also seems desire and fortitude is lacking at times. Sign of a young team I guess but I hope they get over it.

Look at Babcocks record this year.

Now look at Keefes.

When a team loses there always has to be a problem.

It cant be a combination of things.

But the goalie is always a saint.

I didn’t like the wrap, but most over this short losing span have been pretty decent shots from prime spots, the team has been garbage in front of him...hopefully this break gets them almost healed and ready for a good stretch.

Matthews refuses to backcheck and play defense, and he's the Leafs leader? Great role model for how to hang your goalie out to dry. Has anyone on the Leafs told Matthews that its OK to skate into his own end? He was -4 and it looked sad at how out of position he was on the majority of the Hawks goals. During the next 10 days instead of flying out of Toronto.(not that I blame them), and sleeping on beaches, playing golf or scaring security guards the Leafs should stay in Toronto and practice backchecking.

If the Wild want to trade Dumba the Leafs should jump on that opportunity. He has been a target of theirs for years and now the price is down because of his average play this season.

Ship them Kappy, Ceci and a good prospect for Dumba and Stalok.

Matthews has been awesome at both ends of the ice lately.

Nice try though.

Those shots happen multiple times a game.

Crawford had no problem stopping those prime shots.

As a goalie its your job to make some tough saves throughout the game. Especially when its your starter who makes 5 million.

He's not just there to make the easy saves.

No comparison in quality chances, as I stated earlier we had 2 prime chances and missed the net in the 1st. Blackhawks had break aways - and 2 on 1’s and went bar and in on a couple. I’m not going to debate all day...you have your opinion and it’s fine 👍

Dude.

No one is saying the Leafs haven’t given up chances.

But just because Andersen has an extra quality chance or two doesn’t mean he has an excuse to play like poop.

The stats prove it. He’s not stopping enough shots he should be stopping right now.

Plain and simple he has been bad. Definitely a major contributor to the losses right now.

Is he the only contributor ? (frank) no but it’s a fact he’s not playing well.
