The price for Georgie Porgie Pudding and Pie is through the roof though. I know that's media amplification, courtesy of Darren "Marshall Stack" Dreger and friends, but I don't want to give up top 6 players for goalie voodoo. - gravyface
I think Dubas based on past experiences with the backup position looks for a cheaper add...
Unless he’s not a believer in Freddy. Then Georgiev makes sense. |

Leafs down to .899 team sv% on the Season. Or around 24th in the League
yeah, that needs to improve - senstroll
Yup.
And so does the team in front of him.
Freddy has saved this team so much over the years, it would be nice to see the team return the favour once in a while. Better team D, cut down on the odd man rushes etc.
But freddy needs to cut down on those soft goals.

Conference finals mean poop. Still just a loser. I bet they get knocked out by round 2.
Call it whatever you want but it wasnt just one game. They lost FOUR to the blue jackets. Like...ridiculous. - Aaron_85
Its funny, if the leafs had made the conference finals in the past couple of years, youd be singing a different tune i bet. |

It does seem like it would be high.
But could he replace andie soon?
I believe he has arb rights, the past couple of nyr back ups that have been traded and went to arb, i think got 4 millie per or close to.
Thats too rich for the leafys. I see dubas looking at a cheaper option.
Unless, the goal is to replace andy in a year or two. |

I think the bad D is a bit overstated. the Leafs are somewhere in the middle of the pack when it comes to High danger chances. Thats just since nov 20 with Keefe, so 26 games..is enough to eliminate some of the noise.
Regardless they generate more than against when you look at shots/goals/sh%/gf% etc etc, they are pretty much in the top 10+ in the League.
but near the Bottom in sv% at 5v5
The team is being sunk by below avg goalies..at least over the last 15.

getting knocked out in round 2 would be the biggest accomplishment the leafs organization has had in almost 2 decades, so maybe you shouldn't knock it. - haywoodjablome
Lol you act like Tampa has won something. Or the sharks for that matter. Leafs are what? 3 years into real expectations? Tampa and teams like them aren't some perfect team. |

Leafs would still be losers like everyone else. No true guarantees in hockey as we were shown last year. |

A team that is currently out of a playoff spot should contemplate trading an expiring asset at the deadline.
Wow, what a radical thought.
I cannot believe someone would be criticized for suggesting it. On the other hand this is HB.
Unless we see a dramatic turn around on this team, they definitely should consider moving Barrie. Believing this team is a serious contender is pretty (frank)ing stupid... again, barring a huge turnaround in discipline, toughness, maturity and effort.
I have no idea what the trading Matthews question was about (stupid bird), but I will say this... Once he is in year 4 of this deal, unless you KNOW you are going to re-sign him, then you definitely take a hard look at trading him. Once he hits year 5, he has a NMC and anyone who just blindly believe he won't leave in free agency didn't pay enough attention to Tavares.

Dumba would be a nice fetch. Hard to say how they stay good after though. 6 million. That means Muzzin is gone and then it becomes almost a wash heading into next season. - aminnes
I am at the point where I don't think any defenseman will change the equation.
Teams have no-name unheralded guys all the time on defense. The problem is the lack of commitment to defense, team-wide, and the poor goaltending we have had overall.

If we get to point where wedgies exterpolerteror shows that with the post Babs record we will not make the playoffs then we should look at moving the expiring contracts we can't keep.
edit: with 33 games left keefes pace gets us to 101 points. to be confirmed by wedgie.

As senstroll stated...since Keefe took over the D has improved a bunch. Goaltending has been we below average.
They need their top 2 D back. Any team would struggle with their top defenders out. |
